How do the nation's best conferences stack up this year? As always, 1 point for each entrant into the NCAA tournament, one additional point per win.
1. Big 12 11 points. Kansas 2. ACC 11 points. Virginia 3. Pac 12 10 points. Arizona 4. Big 10 9 points. Michigan 5. Atlantic 10 8 points. St. Louis (Conference took a big hit, going 2-4 in the second round) 6. SEC 7 points. Florida Conference hasn't lost yet. 7. American 7 points. Louisiville 8. Big East 6 points. Villanova 9. Mountain West, WCC tied with 3 points. 11. MVC, Atlantic Sun, Ivy, Southland, Summit, Big West, American East tied with 2 points. 18. The rest are one and done: Big Sky, Big South, Colonial, C-USA, Horizon, MAAC, MAC, MEAC, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, WAC, SWAC, Sun Belt
This is a pivotal round--- will the blue bloods clean up the mess left behind by their overseeded pretenders? Or will the upstarts continue to turn this tournament on its heels and perhaps provide the most shocking tournament ever.

The round of 32 was your typical mix of blue blood clean up and upsets.
1. Big 12 13 points. Two teams left 1. Pac 12 13 points. Three teams left 3. ACC 12 points. Virginia only team left 3. Big 10 12 points. Three teams left 5. Atlantic 10 10 points. Dayton saved their season. 5. SEC 10 points. Conference STILL hasn't lost yet, all three teams alive. 7. American 8 points. Two teams left 8. Big East 6 points. Finished 9. Mountain West 4 points. San Diego State remains 10. WCC 3 points 11. MVC, Atlantic Sun, Ivy, Southland, Summit, Big West, American East tied with 2 points. 18. The rest are one and done: Big Sky, Big South, Colonial, C-USA, Horizon, MAAC, MAC, MEAC, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, WAC, SWAC, Sun Belt

Man, the Big East took a huge hit! You wonder what their plans are going forward? Even if they add two schools from the A10..its still not going to be like it once was!
Anyone see the ESPN 30 for 30: Requiem for the Big East?

Both parts of the old big east are skuffling. It will be interesting to see what happens this off season with Rutgers and Louisville leaving the AAC. Smarter guys than me are in charge over there I am sure but I don't see things working out well. IMHO

Additional Big East misery: St. John's playing at home in the NIT, lost to Robert Morris.
Something to think about...
Fox controls any expansion, period. If they open the checkbook again for $4.2 million per team per year, expansion will happen. Rest is sheer speculation. Presidents want the cash.

The sweet 16 was crazy and one non-major is still alive! You can see that it is now the Power 5, not the Power 6, and the A10 continues to establish itself as the cream of the non power 5.
1. Big 10 15 points. Three teams still left, made the big jump to #1. 2. Pac 12 14 points. Arizona remains 3. Big 12 13 points. Dead. 4. ACC 12 points. Dead. 4. SEC 12 points. Conference continues to impress, Florida and Kentucky remain 6. Atlantic 10 11 points. Dayton saved their season---again! 7. American 9 points. Connecticut scores the upset 8. Big East 6 points. Finished 9. Mountain West 4 points. Dead 10. WCC 3 points 11. MVC, Atlantic Sun, Ivy, Southland, Summit, Big West, American East tied with 2 points. 18. The rest are one and done: Big Sky, Big South, Colonial, C-USA, Horizon, MAAC, MAC, MEAC, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, WAC, SWAC, Sun Belt

The elite 8 was just as crazy and we could have the lowest seeded titlist since the 1985 Villanova team. However, the Power 5 continued to dominate. The A10 season is over, but it will likely finish as the cream of the non power 5. 1. Big 10 16 points. Wisconsin only one left. Will the Big 10 hold on to the top spot? 2. SEC 14 points. Florida and Kentucky score two more points and could bring SEC the championship. 2. Pac 12 14 points. Finished 4. Big 12 13 points. Dead. 5. ACC 12 points. Dead. 6. Atlantic 10 11 points. Finished 7. American 10 points. Connecticut still alive 8. Big East 6 points. Finished 9. Mountain West 4 points. Dead 10. WCC 3 points 11. MVC, Atlantic Sun, Ivy, Southland, Summit, Big West, American East tied with 2 points. 18. The rest are one and done: Big Sky, Big South, Colonial, C-USA, Horizon, MAAC, MAC, MEAC, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, WAC, SWAC, Sun Belt Read more: sienahoop.proboards.com/thread/2265/2014-nations-best-conferences#ixzz2xUo2oRzZ
