But the key difference is this: I do wonder if our founding fathers envisioned the press being owned and used to influence public opinion often manipulating public opinion against what is actually in their best interest We are too dumb to know what is good for us so the government should be able to silence the dissent! Interesting, I think that was the whole purpose of the bill of rights, to protect the dissenters from the tyranny of the majority. Your statement sounds like it was taken out of the communist manifesto.

How many times have you heard someone you know quoting the press about something you know is flat out a lie, intentionally misleading or wrong. Almost on a daily basis. People believe what they see on tv, in the papers, on the radio, in a magazine etc. Why do you think politicians/lobbying groups etc spend millions of dollars on advertising to influence public opinion using half truths, lies, misinformation

All I'm speaking to is the press. That is very clear. Corporate world owns the press or at least most of it Printing presses were very expensive in the 1790s.

A lot of good points in the video which I have mentioned in various threads. You should be a libertarian and support the tea party. A flat percentage tax with no deductions is the solution. In addition, no corporate or middle class welfare. Welfare should be limited to people that need it as a safety net. Wow I can't believe we agree!
