Yes, I should have specified recruiting from your statement. Some of us real overachievers will contine to hypothesize that with a few adjustments we could have had 2 or 3 more wins already. very, very true. I think we would all agree with that statement.

Antsy on the recruiting direction, not the season results. I think I predicted 12 wins with this brutal schedule and limited talent. Anything over 12 wins, and we overachieved in my mind! I admit I don't understand the Cam offer (except if he was going to be a Walk-on for more than one yr but that doesn't sound to be the case). I don't know anything about Paige, but hope the staff know what their doing. I guess I have a different philosophy. I try not to let BBall things that I can't control not get me as upset as maybe other loyal fans. I love you guys & gals as fans & people. I guess I just don't things are that bad even with last two losses. As long as they learn & get better. Maybe I'll start to get upset when it becomes more consistent (loosing). Who am I kidding, I never saw the writing on the wall the past 2.5 yrs. it wasn't until midway thru last season that I finally saw what most of you saw before we hired Mitch. I just gave him longer to prove everyone wrong. Most of you know that with me it's not just about winning on the court. It's about winning in life; and I believe that starts here. Where Mommy, Daddy and family don't hover over you any longer or stroke you to believe your are the best just because you breathe. You have to earn what you get. I will and have supported any kid on this team who exemplifies the character I believe is the foundation of the school and the team. With a few exceptions over the past 25 years, IMHO, we have been very fortunate to have been entertained and frustrated by a group of really good kids who have grown into terrific men. With that said, the metric for each team is to learn and get better. This team clearly does not know how to win or keep their foot on the gas when they have the opponent on the ropes. I was hoping that this was a sequelae of the previous coaching regime but we are 25 games in and to me, the fouling issues should be under better control and the team overall confidence should be picking up steam as we head into the conference tournament. I am NOT saying I expect to win the tournament, but I don't expect to get blown off the floor in the PIG either. There were enough Siena fans last night to 'pump' the team up. Hell, we were louder than the SPC crowd. It was what many felt was a pivotal gut check game for this team after the Quinny loss in OT. But you know what? John Dunne captured the moment of the night with his team when he came out of the coaching box in the second half and yelled to them 'you have to dig deeper and want it more than they do'. Guess what....to the Peacocks credit, they did.

With all our shortcomings and limited ships Page and Cam make me nervous. I was expecting JP to land a couple of higher profile kids and sell Siena.
I'll wait and see and reserve further comment. I want to see if JP can land a few kids w: A10 type talent.

Then I'd be a little concerned. But if they are #3 and #4 recruits then I am fine with it. Who knows the conditions on Gottfried's scholarship? It could be he gets one next year if only four spots open up (after back-up PG/athletic big man are addressed). Currently there are no openings. I have a hunch though that will change after the season.

The reason I feel comfortable about the players has to do with my confidence in JP and his staff's eye for talent. I think our talent level with our freshman class is excellent. If this year's freshmen are examples of what we can expect from Jimmy and company in the future, we're looking good. I'm hoping they have a solid plan for the remaining spots we need to fill to improve positions and address weaknesses. I'm going to remain positive towards what they are attempting to do. (which we don't have more than a few clues to speculate on what that might be)

I think most fans realize that having successful back-to-back recruiting classes, is VITAL to getting the program back to where we all want it. JP did a real good job last year, and needs another good one this year. So far it's been a C- in my opinion.
KB would be a nice big addition, but we still need a Lee Matthews type, and DEFINITELY an impact scoring guard that can play the point when need be.
Add those 3, and we're talking "A."
Then figuring out what 3 guys leave will be the next issue.....

I would think that if Taplin was qualified he would be committed to Siena already and some of the antsyness would be lessened.

Whether they amount to key players or role players remains to be seen. There's only one guarantee lock in that class and it's Wright. Adding Page and Cam has done zip to upgrade our level of talent needed to compete at a higher level or perform on a more consistent level.

Maybe a silly question, but is "KB" a reference to Willem?

How can you make that type of strong statement about Paige when you have never seen him play and the coaches obviously have? Speculate maybe but "has done zip" ? The fact that bigger schools backed off him once he had an injury gives me hope that we "might" be getting a steal. Let's at least try to be positive that the coaches know what they're doing.

I trust Jimmy..this is his livelihood. He knows the deal. “There is a lot of pressure. If I don’t win, I’ll get fired quick,” Patsos said. “They expect us to go back to the NCAA [tournament]. … They’ve set their bar very high.” So no he isn't offering Cam Gottfried because he likes Mark Gottfried or isn't offering Paige because he feels like it. Conversely D1 basketball is a tough business and a cutthroat business...some people will have to move on so Jimmy can get more talent in.

Like MTS, I'm willing to give Jimmy the benefit of doubt. Hopefully the coaches saw something in them that they liked. I'm sure no one was jumping up & down when they heard Deane be was recruiting kids like Mark Brown or Doremus Bennerman. No, I'm not trying to place Cam or Paige in that category, but no one ever thought Brown or Bennerman would be Siena greats when they were recruited. I still remember when Mr Siena, Dave & a newspaper guy went to see Eddie in HS play. Eddie didn't do anything that game, and those three were wondering why we even offered him. He turned out pretty good. Let's just wait & see. Maybe Cam will be a combo of Mike a Brown (shooting ability/ball handling) & Kyle Downey (work ethic & toughness). Maybe Paige could be another Eddie type player that fell under the radar for whatever reason. Why should we get all upset about this stuff now? That's right Deane also recruited those foreign players (2 from England & 1 from Israel) and we all know how they turned out to be. Crap, maybe we should be worried.

Part of this isn't patsos fault but we are likely looking at a 4th straight losing season. A fifth one may be on the horizon if we don't get the recruits. The fouling issue is not going to go away with just athleticism. Two glaring issues-- talent and coaching philosophy. No doubt this staff is better than the last one. But is it good enough? I hope so but I admit I am "antsy".
