You need to answer my question that you sidestepped. The "needs" YOU bought up are being filled by what recruits we currently have coming?
So you've got Paige as a star already huh because he plays on a real good HS team? Did I miss something? Who did we beat out for his services? And being on a top 20 team (as you love to point out), there's NO CHANCE he slipped under the radar. He's NOT: 1)a back-up point guard. 2) a scoring off guard, or 3)an athletic athlete frontcourt player that can finish. RE-read his profile. Does a little bit of everything, and is does all the little things to win. those are attributes usually given to kids that are "decent" athletes, not great ones.
--and I'd compare him to Lavon Long, and I'd be right on.
If you think Gottfried (We were his ONLY D-1 scholarship---even your savior, Jimmer-wannabe already has several offers as a junior) is at anyway a point guard, you're sadly mistaken. Not even close. Watch more video.
Lastly, who said recruiting is over? I said AS OF RIGHT NOW. You wanna hang your hat on a academic high-risk like Taplin, go ahead. KB sounds like a nice player, but hardly the type of kid you described in your initial rant.
The NEEDS you mentioned are real, but so far haven't been filled. That's a fact.

Hoopjunkie - are you questioning Jimmy's recruiting? Gottfried is a walk-on at least for his first season. I think there will probably be a decent amount of roster change after the season outside of the freshmen.
It seems like people on this board are all sideways. We are 10-14, 6-7 - did anyone real expect much better with the talent (and youth) we had?
We are right on track...just don't have enough horses and it's Jimmy's job to get those horses.

Was at Yantelli tonight, my god what a dump. SPC and their facility is a total indictment of how shitty the MAAC ... Siena is just not very good, as the record would indicate...Poole was non existent, Wright continues to miss important FTs and our frontcourt, no comment. You should have introduced yourself to: Greenblood, Misspractice. Saint22, Mr Siena, Go Siena, myself and the other people on the bus. Bunch of people from Catholic University were there too. Lots of people cheering in Siena. Siena had a fantastic following tonight, out of 350 ppl, we had at least 100....JP got tossed for a reason, the game was sideways both offensively and ref wise.

The team is slow... as it is currently constructed. Struggling to match athleticism with st peters another big issue. Both are clear indicators that this team is still shorthanded in key areas... and a big reason for foul troubles - a scoring two that is capable on the defensive end. - a backup for wright if hes struggling or in foul trouble. - athleticism up front with finishing ability. Reinforcements are on the way They are? All 3 of the things you listed as needs, are STILL needs as of todays '14 recruiting class we have committed. -no point guard -no scoring off guard -no athlete up front that can finish We have a 4 year back-up/shooting specialist, with a father that's friends with our HC, and a 6'5" jack-of-all-trades kid that sounds like a couple guys we already have. To be fair the addition of Pat Cole should help the scoring off guard need, but he is still a bit of an unknown variable as well.

He was 0 for 2, not 0 for 20. Do you think he thought that plan up all by himself? So who's plan was it for the 1st team All-MAAC kid to take 2 shots in 32 minutes? I'd rather see him go 0-12, then 0-2. At least then I knew he gave a $hit. I know one thing: IF Poole and Hymes combine for ZERO points, we couldn't beat Albany Academy. For once I will agree with you, you know one thing.

To be fair Cole with help at the 2 guard- and Jimmy is looking at a few decent recruits- but his 1st two recruits are less than eye popping. Paige may turn to be a sleeper- but kid plays on a top team and all he had was low D1 offers. Gottfried may help—but let’s face it what are we going to get out of him- another kid that was seen by many ( played on top AAU team) and Jimmy was his only offer. So Jimmy’s first two rides might has well been PW recruits … we are two thirds of the way into season and with his first two recruits Jimmy has not addressed our biggest needs of athletic big ( did you see Marvin Dominique, dominate our front court ? ) and a need for a kid to give us min at the point—I love our freshmen and they will improve next year. But make no mistake about it- unless the point guard and athletic big needs are addressed this team will not be as good as we hope next year. Having said that Jimmy has a reputation of a recruiter and recruiting season is far from over - so I’m more than willing to wait until spring before I judge this class

Deeply disappointed about our beloved Saints " not coming ready to play and not competing" as per Greg Manning Assistant Coach comments to the General after the game.
I called in to post game radio show because I wanted to hear the announcers's observations on the game last night. My focus was not on this young team's won and loss record so far but for me what was important was their observations on whether this young team had shown progress from the start of the season to now in certain key areas.
Andy G's comments to me about failing grades for failure to adjust to new NCAA directives on fouls and the failure to show consistent effort for defense spoke volumes to me.
In fairness, the General did say that Andy G.'s comments in answer to my questions "were a little harsh " and Andy G did say that he gave them a B minus overall so far for the flex offense
Very disappointed with the team not showing more progress but hanging in there with our Saints and hoping for better days in the future.

I can't believe the staff can't get kids up for games in this crucial part of the schedule. I guess you can't convince kids because you beat a team by double digits at home they can sleepwalk through and get the W. Hopefully this is a wake up call as the last few can make or break a mediocre season.
Tony may be onto so something with his signature "GO Saints!"

I'm really not that disappointed. It's a freshman laden team.
- on the road - following a heartbreaking home loss - against a team that pays the ugliest basketball in the maac - game is played in a middle school gym - in front of...well no one really - this siena team still has its holes
These road games/disappointing losses are going to happen.
NOTHING has changed from a week ago... two weeks ago. NOTHING is really going to change before next year.
If I'm disappointed with anything it's the veteran leaders (poole and Hymes) in this game. I'm less disappointed in hymes as my expectations are lower for him.

I'm sure this hurts, but you'll get over it. Pretty soon you will be back to your old self "I know everything". Poole played 32 minutes for a coach who is notorious for hooking guys who are just going through the motions. He was doing as he was told, move the ball inside (lord knows why) but it appears that was the plan.

I heard your call in and response. Great question, Andy's response I thought was pretty accurate. I thought the general was trying to temper the situation, but he didn't seem all that positive either.

From what I have read and viewed I see Paige as a player similar to Long and White, but with possibly a better perimeter game. Gottfried looks like a role player who can come in and hit some threes, in time. Would be more enthusiastic if he was strictly a preferred walk on who could possibly play his way into a scholarship later on in his career. From the quotes from his dad it sounds like he is promised at least 3 years on scholarship and hoping a scholarship for next year will work out. Does this mean he gets the next ship that becomes available before Taplin or another recruit?
