We are 2/3 of the way through the regular season - thought it might be interesting to assess the players against preseason expectations.
Player Relative to Pre-Season Expectations Comments Wright Significantly Exceeds Hymes Exceeds Poole Exceeds White Meets Oliver Fails to meet Long Slightly below fully meeting (fouling issue) Bisping Exceeds Ogunyemi Fails to meet Silas Meets Wolfe Meets Audu Fails to meet

Agree with TH 24 except on Silas. Lack of handle and missed layups=below expectations.

Agree with TH 24 except on Silas. Lack of handle and missed layups=below expectations. Silas is 10x better than last year. How many block shots does he have? With that said..there is ALWAYS room to improve! LET'S GO SAINTS!

Agree with TH 24 except on Silas. Lack of handle and missed layups=below expectations. Hymes offensively exceeds defensively a huge liability. Thus. .. About right. Bisping exceeds although also a big reason they can't go man too often with him on the floor. Oliver Audu about right. Poole I expected to be better under patsos. Silas about right Long about right White slightly below expectations. I expected him to finish a bit better. He will get there. Ogunyemi below expectations Wolfe exceeds Wright... About right. I expected him to be the best of the class out of the gate

Wright - Significantly Exceeds Hymes - Meets Poole - Meets White - Fails to meet Oliver - Fails to meet Long - Meets Bisping - Exceeds Ogunyemi - Fails to meet Silas - Meets Wolfe - Meets Audu - Meets
Unlike most, I don't think Poole is exceeding expectations. I think he meets them. I expected him to average about 15 ppg and be the team's best player, and that's right where he is. White has been a bit of a disappointment. He was hailed as the answer at the 2, but he’s not. He’s a shooting guard who can't shoot. Enter Jimmy Paige - and hopefully Sterling Taplin.
Bisping - I didn't think he had it in him. Very surprised with his play. Ogunyemi - what can I say? I thought he was the stud of the freshman class. Beat everyone else out to be the starter. Then got injured and was never the same since he came back. Oliver - had high hopes now that he’s healthy, but oh well. Audu meets my expectations. I didn't expect any contributions from him, and nothing is indeed what we got. Has he even scored a point this season? Dude might as well be a walk-on.

Your comments regarding Poole mirror my feeling. I poorly stayed that he is essentially meeting my expectations of him being better under Patsos

You have a right to your opinion but you totally wrong about white. How can you produce if you don't get time to produce and not allowed to make a mistake you tell me.None of the 2 guard wasn't allowed to prove itself on the court.

I hear ya and I dont totally disagree-- White gets pulled usually for just dumb freshmen mistakes..In the off season I'd like to see Maurice work on his shot( he needs to get more consistent with his jumper) and his strength to finish better around rim, kid get a lot of chippies in close and misses many just because he isn't strong enough yet- I expect him to make them next year with an off season of work in a D1 weight program. Overall I've been pleased with White- kid has a lot of upside potential- he got here late and was behind 8 ball all year it seems

White has a huge upside , He's feisty and not afraid to mix it up which I love. Now, when he can finish he will be awesome. Jo is below my expectations but I think the injury was a huge setback. Wright is much better than I expected. I am also disappointed with Oliver and Audu, I thought under a new coach they would shine but that star is fading. After mom Long's hyping of Lavon I'm a bit disappointed, I was expecting a game changer in the kid.
Next year we will be really good.

I agree 100% - the quick substitutions aren't allowing the kids to get into a flow and get a feel for the game and, IMO, the young ones are so afraid to make a mistake and get yanked that they go away from instinct and end up making what look like dumb mistakes by overthinking. I understand that Jimmy wants to drive his points home but I think he should let some stuff ride for a possession or two. They know they miss a layup and don't need to be reminded. Maurice is a hell of a ballplayer with good instincts, a big heart and quick feet. When you are learning to ride a bike and fall off, the thing to do is get back on, not go sit and think about the fall!
