and just to add how rare this accomplishment is........in the last 15 years, only 4 players in all of D1 have been able to duplicate that amazing stat scenario on the hardwood!!!!!!!!!!!!!

excellent..................he scored 20pts, grabbed 14 boards and dished 11 assists in 2005 OT win vs. UAlbany (he registered the triple double in regulation).......................kid could stuff the stat sheet for sure................ and recently, Tommy Brenton posted Stony Brook’s first triple-double since moving to Division I, as the Seawolves beat Maine 79-69. Brenton finished with 15 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists. Over the past 15 years, only three other players have reached that combination: Siena’s Kojo Mensah (2005), Connecticut’s Ben Gordon (2003) and Utah’s Andre Miller (1998)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you stating that there have only been 4 triple-doubles in 15 years?
I don't think that's accurate. I recall Marist's Jared Jordan posting a triple-double at the TUC in his jr or sr year.

I recall Marist's Jared Jordan posting a triple-double at the TUC in his jr or sr year. glad I re-checked NCAA record book (damn internet articles, lol)..............as to last 15 yrs, that is correct................that Brenton of Stony Brook was from 2013 so at the time there were only 4 that did it (Jordan was not listed but it seems like he may have done it vs. Siena, need more research there)...............however, this season alone, there have been a remarkable 7 players who have accomplished that feat..............Kyle Anderson (UCLA), Jerrelle Benimon (Towson), Alec Brown (Green Bay), Jalen James (San Jose St), Shabazz Napier (UConn), Elfrid Payton (La-Lafayette) and Aaric Murray (Tx Southern)!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok.........and much apologies to all, I guess I should have just left it at name the Siena player to last accomplish the triple-double stat on the hardwood, and left well enough alone...........that was indeed Kojo Mensah............as to other D1 players, there have been many over the last 15 yrs (after checking official NCAA record book for season listings)............the orig article I was reading was obviously not very accurate in that reference, lessons learned for surfing the internet I guess!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, sorry it's simply not true that there's only been 4 in the last 15 years. Just in a cursory search, I see that Draymond Green, Dwayne Wade and Cole Aldrich each had a triple-double in the NCAA tournament even, not just in regulation, in the last 15 years. Draymond Green 7th Triple Double - ESPNEDIT: Sorry I was posting this before I saw Gg4E's response. Myth already busted :-) With that said it's still a very rare thing to do, and to think Marquis came so close to accomplishing this is mind-boggling. Guess we should put him on the low blocks when the other team's Center is shooting FT's to boost those rebound stats :-)

Guards are rebounding more these days...more long rebounds with all of the 3Pt shooting. With out looking it up I would bet a triple double from a guard more than likely would come in the form of pts assist and steals.. can someone confirm that?..

Ok I got mine in pts rebs and blocks as a PF...I dont think steals are calculated correctly enough though so I see your point...I did not look it up.
