Seeing that I like to come to this web site to discuss basketball, anyone want to offer their thoughts on tonight's Canisius vs. Iona game?
It's on ESPNU, both teams currently battling for Top 3 status. Who ya' got?

I'd take the over.
Should be an entertaining game between Billy Baron, AJ English and Sean Armand there will be a lot of three-point shots attempted and points scored.
Hopefully Iona wins in like triple OT so we can surprise them on Sunday!

The over sounds good, I'd agree! In all seriousness what IS the over for this game? I'd have to think it's 155ish.
I think Iona takes this one on their home court. I know Sean Armond was a bit ticked off that he wasn't pre-season POY, he'll get his opportunity to prove that he should have been tonight (even if I don't agree that he should have been).

Really tough game to choose. Agree Baron, Armand and English will get their points. If Williams and Bowman are on just too much firepower for Iona and see them winning with a game in the 80's. A lot of talent on the court besides the players listed the battle inside with Poole, Hines and Laury against Heath and Manhertz will be interesting. Iona plays and shoots better at home. MTS might be on to something. Iona playing at 9pm in a big game on national TV, may come out flat sunday playing a team they just beat on the road. do not see a decent crowd with the game at 5pm in the middle of a big NFL Sunday

Vegas has Iona -7 and under/over at 164. like the over but Iona by 7 sounds high

Wow, still like the over at 164? I would be tempted to take the under on that.

don't forget Iona-Siena just combined for 165 and Canisius has more scorers than Siena and I would have to check but I am sure Iona always scores in the 80's at home

That's fair, it's obviously not out of the question! Clearly some algorithm has it as being a likely number. I just think that Iona is extremely reliant on the 3 point shot and even though they typically shoot well at home, perhaps a 9 PM nationally televised game could deviate from that fact.

Canisius 85 Iona 83 ... great game as Iona rallies from 20 down in the second half to late the lead only to lose in the end. Hopefully they are a little demoralized on Sunday. Billy Baron is unbelievable - great player.

Agreed. Baron is hands down best player in MAAC. Would rather have seen Iona win. I think Cluess will start that small lineup that finally played with intensity and got Iona the lead, which will be a very tough cover for the Saints. If that was Baron taking that last shot of game Armand missed he makes it. Not saying he will make the NBA but he will be in some teams camp. besides scoring he played defense and made some great passes

Ridiculously fun game to watch, two good teams this year.
Obviously you shouldn't ever listen to me on advice on over/under :-)

Lol..I almost turned it off but without any other games to watch I kept it on and treated to an exciting game. Will be interesting to see what the Line and O/U will be tomorrow. Would have been better for Saints if Iona won in my opinion since its hard to see Iona lose 2 home games in 3 days. will they come out fired up or flat after such a tough game? that's what makes college hoops so much fun. Maybe the Saints can steal one.

Billy Baron took over that game. 'Nuff said.
It's his last year of eligibility right?

Latest on RPI Forecast:
Manhattan 15-5 Iona 14-6 Canisius 13-7 Qunnipiac 13-7 Rider 11-9 Siena 10-10 Monmouth 8-12 Marist 8-12 St Peter's 8-12 Niagara 6-14 Fairfield 5-15
Let's get those numbers up to 12-8

I still think we can get to 12-8 (which gives us a winning overall record and likely get us into the 5th spot) but it will be tough. Sunday's game at Fairfield probably has to be a win if we're going to get to 12 MAAC wins.
Fairfield (twice) Niagara, Monmouth
Quinnipac (twice) Manhattan, Canisius, at Rider, at Marist, at St. Peter's
We have to go 8-3 to finish 12-8. If we go 4-0 against the first group of games ... 4-3 in the second group would get us there.
I am hopeful but realistically I think the RPI forecast will be right 10-10 ...and that still could get us 5th because Rider (5-3) still has to play Iona and Manhattan both twice and at Quinnipiac.
