This is the reality. I wouldn't guess at the extent, but this will happen on some level at Siena if Siena moves to the A-10.

I doubt Siena would have to drop anything!

This is the reality. I wouldn't guess at the extent, but this will happen on some level at Siena if Siena moves to the A-10. The NCAA mandates D1 schools to support at least 14 sports (7 men's/7 women's or 6 men's/8 women's) with at least two sports covering both genders. Siena has 18 programs - 7 men's and 11 women's. The 7 men's sports have matching womens's programs (I'm assuming baseball and softball are considered the "same" sport in the NCAA's eyes). The women's only sports are Swimming&Diving, Volleyball, Waterpolo and Field Hockey. Bottom line, Siena could drop 4 sports and still meet NCAA requirements. I doubt that would happen.

Good point-- so most that can drop is 4. Hopefully none-- but unfortunately always a possibility if you move up and the sports you do support demand more money

Wow, Temple's athletic budget is $44M. They're gambling a whole lot on football.
What's Siena's overall athletic budget?
