@andrewsantillo: Louis Orr was last Siena coach to win 1st game, beating Radford 67-59, to start 2000-01 year - Lanier, McCaffery & Buonaguro lost 1st game

I knew good things were to come after Fran's first game even though it was a loss. That same Penn team pounded us at the TUC the year before. Fran almost beat them at the Palestra and Penn was in the NCAA tournament that season. Lanier lost to Providence I think. I actually remember Orr's first game..beat Radford at home and then went out to Hawaii. Hewitt started 0-2 I believe losing two games in DC in a tournament at George Washington.
Hopefully Jimmy can become the first coach since Orr to win this Siena debut and that's the last comparison between the two!

Exactly, and they were up big too-- the Vermont fans were very worried. After that game, I knew it was over. It doesn't take long to find out if a coach is good or not.

I don't think I'll ever forget the post MTS made after Siena lost to UALbany the second time. No words, just a huge picture of Beyer followed by Lanier's and then you scroll down and there is Mitch's. Funniest ever.

If you lose to UA you are on the hotseat on this board.
In the real world its just another game.

This is cool. The board has come to life. I'm a night owl, and most of the time, nothing is happening on the board after 10 or 11.
Not tonight, though. Not on the eve of a new era for the Saints. Not on the night before the Albany Cup when we probably have more uncertainty about the outcome than ever before. Seriously, both teams have major question marks, and there is no way to predict what will happen. This could literally be a blowout in either direction. I do believe that we have the advantage in talent, but UA will have us in physicality (not counting Lavon!). They have a slight edge in experience also.
The difference could come down to coaching. In my opinion, we have the better coach in this matchup for the first time since 2009. Clack could argue that this is not necessarily the case, but I believe it to be true.
Nineteen or so hours from now, we start to learn what we have to look forward to for the next several years. I couldn't be more excited.
