As I have said before, the reason why scoring is down is because there are more and more Division II teams playing Division 1 ball-- over 50 added over the past 20 years. The talent is diluted, hence the scoring is down, the quality of the players are down, the quality of the coaches are down, and the quality of the refs are down. These rules may increase scoring, but they will not increase the quality of the Division 1 game.

This should benefit Iona as they play no defense, this rule makes every game played to their strength.

I think the rule benefits teams -
That are deep- foul trouble will be a constant theme early in the year Good foul shooting teams Quick teams - it will be hard to guard quick players. Quick players with a mid range game are going to be practically unguardable Coaches that take advantage of floor spacing – if you can create some space for a guy that can get his own shot off( think Cole or White) under new rules those players will be practically unguardable one on one
I also think it hurts big conference teams- as those programs generally had the bigger stronger players- that advantage is somewhat neutralized with new rules. I think we will see a lot of "upsets" early in the season. Think about it- no more "flopping" from Duke. No more poking and slapping from Louisville or VCU press?
It will be interesting to see how this plays out-- and those articles state-- this isn't a NCAA point a emphasize- this is a actual rule change
