Jimmy Patsos is the right man for the Siena job, IMHO without a doubt we will contend in the MAAC under him... The question is can he get Siena where Fran had us and potentially even beyond that (sweet 16, top 25).
We won't know this until the start of Jimmy's third season although we should have a good idea on how things are going well before that. I think most of us know this but we should not expect Jimmy to pick up right off when Fran left.
Remember Fran was 26-23 (.531) in the latter part of his second season. As the team got more experienced with his system they improved greatly. 9-2 and a spot in the MAAC championship game to finish the 2006-07 season followed by 23-11, 27-8, 27-7 - (.754)
We will have some ups and downs but I'm expecting a fun team to watch and a decent amount of wins... how many I'm not sure but it probably will be more than any of the last three years - which would mean 15 wins. I only say probably because the OOC schedule is very tough and there is a ton of road games early on. But we have more conference games and all the non-league home games are very winnable.
My expectations for the first three seasons of the Patsos era:
Year 1: 14-16 win season - top 6 conference Year 2: 20 win season - postseason of some kind Year 3: Be in serious contention for NCAA tournament

The transition from Year 2 to Year 3 will be interesting. Poole, Hymes, and Silas graduate. But this year's freshman class has enough players who could be starters in Year 3.

I see some similarities between Fran's and Jimmy's 2nd and 3rd seasons. The 2006-07 team lost Haddix and Ryan. As you mentioned Poole, Hymes and Silas will graduate after 2014-2015. But probably only Poole will be a starter by next season. Even if Jimmy doesn't start Poole and 4 freshmen this year I think in 2014-15 you'll see Poole and 4 sophomores. Jimmy will have four players added as freshmen in November 2015. Hopefully Wright, White, Long, Cole, Wolfe and JO produces at least really good four starters. I think a Ubiles type of wing would then be the final missing piece. They are not easy to find but I'm confident Jimmy can attract a really good one to Siena.
