Actually, that's a pretty good list. Who would you move him ahead of?

Actually, that's a pretty good list. Who would you move him ahead of? Have to admit, I didn't really think about it. I was simply going on the fact that he turned around four programs and after this year will have taken four different teams to NCAA Tourney. But, since you made me take another look, I'd definitely place him beforeTad Boyle (121-80 & 1-2 NCAA record) and Rick Byrd (273-165 & 0-6). Also Fran (while at Siena beat Stallings & Matta) head to head in Tourney. He out coached Stallings and with luck beat Matta. Siena down something like 12 or 14 (twice during the same game) against Ohio St & found way to claw way back & win. Granted the players we had, had something to do with that win, but the coaching staff still got them prepared & motivated them during the game. Granted Fran's record against Matta at Iowa isn't great, so I wouldn't say he's better than Matta or even Stallings - just he beat both with teams no one expected to win.

Maybe you can. That's what I asked. It's easy to say, but when you look at actual resumes, it becomes harder.

Fran is a really good coach. The job he did in his first year at Siena might be the best coaching job I've seen. I think he outcoached Matta (even if Ronald's shot doesn't go down) and Pitino - Siena had Louisville on the ropes and only for two 1st round NBA guys (Williams and Clark) were they able to hold us off.
