Magic, if you were to look at the dalydoseof hoops site, you would know that the author is Jaden Daly. So much for your foolish comment. Actually, I'm quite aware of his name. That doesn't mean trying to be "cute" with the name of a blog is correct or should be encouraged. "Daly's dose of hoops" wouldn't bother me at all. Personally, I have a problem with any business (and a blog is a business), misusing the English language. That makes me foolish?

I am with you Scott-- lot of excuses this time of year, but like I said the results are encouraging but by no means is this team ready yet. Like you said, plenty of time, I am sure the kids are not reading too much into drilling DII type teams on a nightly basis.

You really can't look at comparative scores. Last year Siena should have beaten UMass and UMass beat LaSalle and Xavier last year and had a winning season in the A10. Does that mean Siena could have competed with LaSalle and Xavier? No way. Who cares what Sacred Heart did against the same competition in Montreal? Apples to oranges. Overall it was a solid trip and hopefully a learning experience for the team. Remember we played freshmen who played big minutes first time on the road in a foreign country. Also we had no Hymes for 3 games and Maurice White and potentially Pat Cole could be added into the mix....We had a 69-42 lead in one game..67-39 in another and 53-38 in the first game. Ironically the McGill should be the most important learning part of the trip. Also it is tough to play 5 games in 5 days..not excuses but things that need to be stated. That's not to say the team doesn't need to improve in many areas but the good news is they'll only get better (well coached teams do) as we get closer to the season - which is still 71 days away until we slap the Great Danes around at the TUC

Winning breeds confidence. It's a start, guys. Remember that we have NOBODY that has experienced "real" team success. Take one step at a time.

As a long time fan ( in good times and bad) and as someone who attended all 5 games in Montreal I am amazed at much of the long distance analysis being done on this board. All the games were played in steamy gyms with wet slippery floors. In three of the games especially Mc Gill the Saints were playing basketball while the opponents were allowed by the refs to play what looked like Rugby with constant grabbing of jerseys and crunching illegal blocks. At one point(not Mc Gill game) Lavon Long a big guy was knocked horizontally ten feet in the air. Lucky he knows how to roll. The teams all had players many years older than our freshmen. I watched the first half of Syracuse/ Mc Gill. I believe that one reason no grabbing was allowed was because of the TV coverage of the game and Boeheim's stature. Mc Gill's tactics were entirely different versus Siena. I am greatly impressed with the Saints coaching the level of which I haven't seen since Mike Deane. .The team takes the floor for warm ups in a disciplined manner and performs their drills in an effective manner.. A player who misses an assignment is yanked from the game , instructed and later re- inserted not buried on the bench. Players like Bisping, Audu and Oliver demonstrated for the first time that they are worthy of scholarships. I reflect back to the freshman year of Moore, Franklin , Ubiles and Magee and see po ssibly even more talent in Wright, Long, J O and Wolf. I think from those that have seen him ( I haven't) White will clearly push this class's talent level above that of the earlier class. These Saints and their Coach will surprise a lot of teams and our fans with their intensity. As Commissioner Ensor who was at the games said and echoed by one of our posters remember it is August not February .
