Since Wolfe is pretty thin, thought I'd put this here..
If you compare the average weight of Siena's 12 scholarship players right now compared to the 12 scholarship players that were on the team as of last October...
This teams averages 206.42 lbs compared to 203.75 lbs. (32 more totals lbs.)
We've gained 11 lbs at PG. (Hymes/Wright vs. Hymes/Brookins) (Hymes gained 8 lbs) We've gained 6 lbs at SG. (Audu/Oliver vs. themselves) (Oliver put on 9 lbs...probably not muscle though) We've gained 15 lbs at SF (Cole/Poole vs. Burdine/Poole) (I put Long at F just to keep it even and to drive PPC crazy) (Poole 5 lbs above his fall weight) We've gained 0 lbs at F (the rest) (Bisping +9, Silas +5)
Note: Marcus Hopper remained steady at 248.
I think this is kind of interesting considering it's still only July and the players usually put on significant bulk before the fall weigh-in.

Wolfe isn't even the 215 lbs. reported in that article. At 6'9, 200 lbs., he either needs to hit the weights hard until November...or redshirt. He does not have a college-ready body at this time. That's why he garnered little recruiting interest, not because of anything lacking in his skill set.

That's why he garnered little recruiting interest, not because of anything lacking in his skill set. MAAC 4 men are small. Silas was small at 218 and he was our best defensive center by far. 200lbs is small but let's face it, this is the MAAC. Danny Stewart is 6-7, 210 and he's one of the most experienced guys Wolfe would be matched against at PF. Who else will he face? Barrow, Manhertz, and a ton of other 6-5/6-6 guys. He'll have height on them. He'll have trouble muscling against Quinny and Manhattan if they play Brown & Pankey at the same time but really with his quickness and athleticism at 6-9... he's fine in this league. If he gets back up to 215, no worries in the MAAC. He'll just need to perform. Last year Rider's guys were very skinny and they were 2nd in the league in blocks. Ryan Bacon of SPC was one of the better defensive centers, and he was 6-7, 205 his senior year when they won the league.

His coach says he was getting pushed around easily in H.S. - and he was taller than everyone there too. I don't expect he'll fare much better against college level players.

I posted the article. I'm not saying to expect OD or RyRo out there on the boards. This kid is more like Brandon Penn than OD, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. You just seem to think this kid needs to redshirt. I think we need him this year and not just for 5 mins a game.

I don't think he necessarily needs to redshirt - I think he needs to hit the weight room and the cafeteria hard. He's got 4 months until the season starts to do something with his body. Let's not forget that this kid graduated H.S. at 215 and has since lost 15 lbs., which means he's even less strong that he was before. And he was getting pushed around in H.S. at 215. What do you think will happen in college at 200? He's going in the wrong direction. There's no reason he can't put back on the15 lbs. by then so he at least gets back to where he was. He's not expected to be OD or Rossiter out of the gate - but he can't afford to be Olive Oyle either. I betcha he can't even come close to bench pressing his body weight.

I don’t know how it will work out with Wolfe this year- my understanding is he has to get much stronger. I would think if he isn’t going to be a significant contributor this season we would be better off redshirting him – but I agree it’s only July, this decision doesn’t have to be made until November

Hakim Warrick is listed as 6'9" 219 and playing in the NBA. Im sure he's put a few pounds on since his Syracuse days

Thank you SaintsFan, that's my entire point. Wolfe has small forward type skills. He wasn't recruited to push people around. Erik Etherly first came to Loyola at 6-7, 184 after his transfer from Northeastern.
My point is if he gets back to 215 under the typical college workout regimen he should be fine, especially in this league. And he might even be able to contribute positively without it. If you think of him as more like a SF then the weight isn't as important especially when he could be playing next to 2 big guards in Poole and Long.
Poole is a guy who can average 5 boards a game (4.7 last year despite the sickness). Long, at 230+, can certainly do that too. Play Wolfe with those two and Silas and you won't even notice a problem if he can only come up with 4 boards a game.

Leslie from NC State played in the ACC at 6 9 200 lbs. and is now playing well for the Knicks in the summer league.

I can see this team doing alot of that this season.
