Wonder if Cole is getting his waiver or the boosters made noise?

I really hope Cole gets his waiver but that's very doubtful. Don't know the whole story on Buie but I have to respect the admin decision even if I don't agree with it. If Jimmy really wanted him I think they should have defered to him. We have a big hole at SG. Realistically we have a tough OOC schedule and will be young. If we can finish over .500 I'd take it but to contend for NCAA bids and MAAC championships Jimmy will need another recruiting class to get an impact 2 guard.

Poole will surprise the doubters...I dont see a big hole at the 2 when we have 3 of them. Lavon has faith in his teammates so I do as well

I am with PPC here. I don't agree that there is a huge hole at the 2, and it didn't need to be filled with this choice. Obviously, I wasn't the only one who felt that way. I think we have a really good group of talented kids here to work with and they will surprise many. This decision on admission was a path chosen wisely.

Poole is a very good player but I think he's better off playing SF. A proven SG makes the PG and SF stronger. Still I think we have good enough players to have a winning season. Unless Cole gets his waiver the starters will likely be Hymes PG, Poole SG, Long SF, JO PF and Silas C....Wright will be the sixth man backing up PG and SG. After that there will be a battle for playing time at the back of the rotation between Oliver, Audu, Bisping and Wolfe unless he redshirts.

Think Cole would be great for defense and dribble driving if eligible. If not, a 2 PG lineup or playing big with Poole at the 2G and Lavon at the SF might be better.
This move may be good for Wolfe too. He has more perimeter skills than JO so his ability to knock down shots and quickness & athleticism to guard to the 3 pt line could give him the edge at PF...seeing as how we could have less quickness on the perimeter without Buie or Cole.
Still, Oliver & Audu will see time if there's only 6 guards eligible.

I don't think Wolfe is redshirting, we may need his quickness. "Michael is doing great in summer school," Patsos said. "Coming from Georgetown Prep, I think he's a little extra prepared. I'd say he's a little more advanced. He's going to play a lot of four for us, because he can face up and shoot." That doesn't sound like "redshirt" to me. Perhaps, Lavon could guard a SG and Poole the SF depending on the matchup as well.... Lavon may lack some of the lateral movement against 2's but he seems to have good enough instincts. Plus, what Poole lacks in speed he makes up for in smarts and toughness.

I felt all along this wouldn't happen. Just doesn't make sense to be the third strike for this kid. I know Jimmy's mantra but all things considered there has to be a better risk vs reward out there.

I agree, the risk was just too much. As much is it is nice to have a good team, I place having a respectable program very high as well, perhaps even higher. Patsos should put us on track to achieving both of these. Also, we technically would have been his fourth strike, since he had two at Hofstra. NBC Sports reports that he was indeed kicked out of Hofstra. collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/15/report-taran-buie-not-admitted-into-siena/

I agree it was the right decision and maybe Taran can get added to the St. Rose team and be eligible to play this year.

Thank God Siena did the right thing here. I am embarrassed that they were even considering admitting Buie in the first place. The response should have been "thanks, but no thanks" from the get-go just as Will Brown's initial response reportedly was. You don't expel Rakeem Brookins and then admit a replacement who has done the same exact things.

If Siena didn't take Buie I don't know why St. Rose would? D1 basketball is much more of a business and pressure to win then in D2. Was it possible that Buie wasn't going to get the waiver even if he was admitted into Siena? I mean then it's a no-brainer. There's no reason to take him if he could only play one season and would be able to play when Cole was in the mix in 2014-2015. Also could White be back on the table? Mark Singelais seems to think so reading some of his tweets.
