Interesting that both Siena and FF looking to get out of MAAC If the CAA adds either Albany or Stoney Brook ( or both) would give the CAA nice northern conference in Northeastern, Hofstra, Drexel If both Siena and FF leave the MAAC- very little difference between MAAC and NEC fairfieldmirror.com/2013/04/24/stags-eye-a-new-conference/

Here is a question to consider:
If the A10 does not invite Siena to join, but the CAA does invite Siena, then is it in Siena's best interest to bolt the MAAC and join the CAA?
Your thoughts?
Thanks.

Interesting how they're floating the idea publicly. Are they trying to convince the CAA to invite them, or their fans that an invitation should be accepted, or both?

Can't blame them for wanting the CAA, though it ain't what it used to be. Probably about equal to the MAAC when LaSalle was still in it.

I think the MAAC is actually a little better than the current CAA. Losing VCU, ODU and George Mason has crushed that league. James Madison had a decent record yet were in the NCAA PIG. I think if Fairfield can't get in the A10 and doesn't want to stay in the MAAC the Patriot league would be better honestly. I still am hopeful that Siena will be in the A10 soon to start playing for the 2014-2015 season. Hopefully the invite is coming soon.

I agree that the CAA isn't what it once was, but James Madison were 17-14 going into their conference tournament...I wouldn't qualify that as a "decent record" for an NCAA tournament team.

James Madison isn't long for the CAA, they're almost ready to join an FBS league and will probably end up taking Western Kentucky's seat in the Sun Belt Conference. In terms of basketball, the MAAC really is better than the depleted CAA. If Siena does leave, Fairfield would do fine as one of the top 3 programs in a 10-member MAAC. This might be a men's lacrosse move or an academic move, if they like the association with the sort of institutions in the CAA. It also wouldn't surprise me if they just wanted to get away from Quinnipiac. How can you be the State of Connecticut's 2nd best athletic department when you play in the same conference as another in-state program?
