Thanks for the response. It looks like thats what BC did with the boston public schools fund. Appreciate all your work and looking forward to contributing this year with some optimism around the program. I was a little hesitant last year...

I think you would be waiting a couple of more weeks for Huskie assistant Murray. I don't think that would be very wise. A couple weeks now is a lot less important in the long run than getting the right guy. You can still reach out to the guy and see if he has any interest, I'm hoping they did that and he wasn't interested. Otherwise, I think that could be a mistake to rush to get a hire without bringing in all the best candidates. I'm absolutely in favor of Gerry as the next coach, just hoping they did their due diligence. Not trying to argue. On this board poster(s) blasted the one week delay between the end of the season and Carm's dismissal as being detrimental to improving the program .While I don't fully agree with that position, once the outcome was decided I think a day can't be lost. Waiting for an Assistant from a team that will most likely at least make the Final Four is not wise. I'm also in favor of McNamara. I think given the the proximity of S U to our area and the coverage of its basketball program makes due diligence easier to do. We can't delude ourselves into thinking that if Gerry is hired and miraculously turns the Saints around in two years he isn't gone to a bigger payday. I remember Saint Fran even saying he was happy here and not looking for any place else. Hind sight will always be 20/20. Predicting the future is always a crapshoot.

IF McNamara does leave (hopefully we have a buyout clause?) in 2 or 3 years, it means he was very successful.
We could use some of that around here.

I just hope some of the SU hate and envy doesn't cloud fans vision of a SU great coming here. Newsflash lookat what Carm has managed to do to this program. Only one way to go. 4-34 just let that sink in..

You guys shouldn't worry. My guess is Siena is waiting for optimal press attention. they will announce the hiring when press gets here for NCAA reginal. That means ESPN, etc.

I mean, I'd love a coach with an actual record we could judge.. this would basically be another "wishful thinking" hire like Carm.. Guessing people just assume his name will lead to better recruits and bigger games? Honestly I don't know if we even need a larger recruiting footprint, I still can't figure out how we fail to land the elite Albany talent, and that goes back to Talor Battle. Jimmer too, but I imagine religion played a role in his attending BYU.. converting heretics is another task altogether

Scott you are not wrong, but IF they feel GMac is the best, then they will roll with that asap...........it's like drafting a player, the GM/coach has in their mind who they want the most, and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, so in terms of that, you have to trust those making the decisions and in this case the AD was not part of it......... Unsuccessful franchises decide who to draft based on who the GM/coach has in their mind that they want the most. Successful franchises spend months analyzing every possible contender and then reach a consensus opinion among the scouting department, coaches, front office, and ownership to make their selection. I like Gerry as the next coach and at this point I hope it happens quickly but it wouldn't have hurt to bring a few other candidates in for some leverage in negotiations at the least. And I certainly would have at least reached out to Luke Murray to see if he had any interest along with a few others that we had on our wish list. We don't have time considering the best players in the portal will be placed before we make a decision.

As long as he doesn’t run up the score on our opponents I have no issues with this hire I remember without fondness the start of my hatred of SU Athletics - my 1979 trip to Manley Field House (last year for games played there) with a bunch of my former roommates. Boeheim refused to take his foot off our throats and we lost something like 150-90. I think it’s still Syracuse’s points scored record.

We did score 90+ though!

lakeshore7778 same here! Birth of our hatred! I was cheering at that game...and it was UGLY- the score, the announcing, the fans throwing oranges and epithets...I rem Rod Owens was BEAST that game though! We can get behind a Gmac hire though as long as we don't change our colors to orange...

I'm sure Gerry is close with Carmelo and that could help the NIL Kitty.
