come on, we can't settle for just a .500 season...........does anyone here realistically think Carm can go say 20-10 next year after being in a 4-34.............IF that were to happen it would be one of the greatest turnarounds in D1 history, sorry but I don't think that is even plausible............so why bother going through the motions, when all the AD/Admins have is "hope" he can turn it around..........4 straight early round MAAC tournament exits isn't exactly giving them or the fanbase a vote of confidence that Carm can get it done...........said it before, will say it again, NOT everyone is cut out to be the head coach, rather their wheelhouse is simply as an assistant, not a bad thing but just the simply reality of it, look around the country as you see this situation at many schools unfortunately........... I agree. He’s advocating for himself by saying 20-21, 21-22 and 22-23 were good seasons. When you can’t even win a game in your conference tournament, I wouldn’t categorize that as a good season at all. The sad part is I think he could have been a decent coach but it seems his ego and stubbornness have been his undoing. For some reason he rested on his underwhelming laurels of finishing in the top half of the MAAC every year before this year. that is the other element, even with "good talent" he hasn't won the league in his 5 yrs..........of course in yr 1, the team was rolling and did win that 1st game in the tourney but covid hit to cancel the rest of the season, we have no crystal ball to show us that he would have won that yr either, fair or not.............his overall body of work has shown the type of coach he is, not very good planning/adjustments, poor offense or defense philosophies or basically understanding how to best utilize the talent he has, plus the fact this past season he had no clue how to put a roster together to even be just competitive..........

There are ZERO basketball reasons to bring Carm back. ZERO. He had his shot and failed. He is simply not a very good HC. For Carm to have any sustained success going forward, he would need to completely reinvent himself (both on and off the court), his coaching philosophy, style and schemes, offense and defense, in game adjustments, substitution patterns, etc. and significantly elevate the talent level of the team. All of that happening together by next season is virtually impossible. For Siena College to put the players, program and fans through another season with Carm would be criminal. Time for a new chapter in Siena Men's basketball.

Wayland would say anything to tweak Siena fans. Carm will be back, but not because they think he wil succeed. It's because the Siena admin would never stand for paying off two years of a contract in the face of declining enrollment and general resentment.

I could live with this. D’Arg is the bigger systemic problem, I wouldn’t trust any new coach he was in charge of hiring. I can put up with another year of Carm if I knew we were getting a proper search under new leadership next year. And who knows, maybe if Carm knew he was truly coaching for his job he could surprise us next year. come on, we can't settle for just a .500 season...........does anyone here realistically think Carm can go say 20-10 next year after being in a 4-34 stretch?.............IF that were to happen it would be one of the greatest turnarounds in D1 history, sorry but I don't think that is even plausible............so why bother going through the motions, when all the AD/Admins have is "hope" he can turn it around..........4 straight early round MAAC tournament exits isn't exactly giving them or the fanbase a vote of confidence that Carm can get it done...........said it before, will say it again, NOT everyone is cut out to be the head coach, rather their wheelhouse is simply as an assistant, not a bad thing but just the simply reality of it, look around the country as you see this situation at many schools unfortunately........... This is 100% correct— if he comes back anything less than 20 wins and a MAAC tournament championship is a failure. The odds of that happening aren’t great to say the least. Then what are we even doing here? Cut the cord now and hire a winner.

Rodger is right the money isn’t an issue. If Siena doesn’t make a move that excuse won’t fly.

Because make no mistake, it's ALWAYS about the money.

MTS - where did you get $362? I thought he had 2 years left so minimally it would be double right?
If it is only $362K then they'd be foolish to risk the loss of season tix holders. If they lose 1500 season tix at $250 ... that's > $362K. I would put $10 on the number of ST's that will bail be much higher than 1500. They need to know there is no "win" here...it is just the extent of the loss.

Look if Siena went 10-22 this year and lost a bunch of close games nobody would be happy but you could spin giving Carm another year. Almost impossible to survive 4-28 at a place with real fan support and expectations. Especially when you haven’t been to the NCAA tournament in 5 years as the HC.

If Carm is back he has to cut all the DII and DIII players on scholarship and replace them with MAAC + talent from JUCO or the portal and the HS recruit he signed already, unless he decommits. He also has to replace any portal loses with equal or better talent from the portal. That is likely quite a few new faces needed next year. If this is not done it is a rinse and repeat of this year and I'm not renewing my season tickets. As of now I am definitely dropping one of my tickets, my wife lost interest after the season fell apart last year. If there is not an influx of quality talent I'm not renewing my remaining ticket that I have had for 40+ years. And I'm sure I am being more lenient than most season ticket holders who won't wait to see what roster changes transpire.

From what I’m hearing it sounds like D’Arg will be shown the door but Carm will be back. Why would a new AD come to Siena and not fix his biggest problem. If that happens the new AD does not have any authority from administration. You fix nothing in this scenario.

I think my wife’s and I will switch our season tickets to women’s team. More fun to watch, way cheaper, no parking fees etc. I was thinking the same exact thing. I can’t believe these people don’t get it.

He doesn't get it. It's on him to build the roster and he hasn't done it.

He let 2 scholarships gather dust on his desk, and let a kid from Georgia go to school for 3 years, not play one minute and get his degree.
We were, by far, the least talented team in the league, and he only gives out 10 scholarships? Should be fired for this philosophy alone.
4-34 last 38. Hasnt won a MAAC tourney game in 4 years. Expect the entire staff to walk... AGAIN.
Is there any doubt a change has to be made?

What a bunch of BS out of Carm's mouth. If he's still here next season I hope he enjoys the empty Arena. GO SAINTS!!

From what I’m hearing it sounds like D’Arg will be shown the door but Carm will be back. I could definitely live with that, Time has passed Darg by, we need fresh blood. Carm will have hard time recruiting, as book is out on him that he is difficult to play for. Good talent makes mediocre coaches look good - its tough to be mid major in new college landscape - have to continually sign talent as you will lose talent to portal every year.
