It was all the Fran love that swayed voters. A team of Wright, Nico, Long, JO and Bisbing coached by Fran would have won. I def agree with this. If the objective is to pick the best team of players, separate from the merits of an individual coach, it might be better to leave off the coaches so the focus is totally on the players.

Ooooh surprise! I thought team 4 would win. The teams were a little top heavy because of the delays. But I thought even some of the late arrivals had some good picks in there. Here are the results of week one of four. Nolasaint. 6 points 24 votes Scott 5 points 20 votes Nolesaint. 4 points Misspractice 3 points Papi. 2.5 points Hoopjunkie .5 points Q-saint has won and now has a bye into the semifinals, which will consist of the 4 winners and two wild cards. Game details to follow. Post if interested (those that already played/posted do not have to enter again) ... anyone can try to join will pick 6 players by Saturday. Games on Monday nights at 8pm sharp. Wait, i get saddled with that team papi (or whoever did?) picked? The only guy i chose was Bennerman. Yup, he took over your picks and turned it into a 3 point shooting force. You got 1/6 of the 3 points awarded. Frankly imagine if that team existed it would win a lot of games. Bennerman running circles and passing to wide open cantamissa sign me up. Play on Monday and improve your score.

Puts the focus all on the kids. 7 is the usual amount of players that get real minutes.

As was pointed out to me, if we were really playing a 5 on 5 game between the teams then no way Elijah Burns isn't going to be exhausted by the end of the game.

I’d be intrigued by TEAM 2 vs TEAM 4 matchup... score would probably be 125 to 120. But Burns would need back-up..

I’m ok with going without a coach, but think team 2 is the most well rounded with 3 lead guards, all of which are 5 tool guys who can shoot, pass, get to and finish at the rim, rebound and defend their position, and two inside/out bigs. My 6th man would have been scoop Jordan and I would have tried to get either JO or Steve McCoy.
Team 4 is solid, but no lead guard and only one big. Franklin and Burns would overpower them and it would be next to impossible to turn team 2 over. Team 4 would be gritty as all get out. Would be a fun match up. I love Hewitt, so I don’t think Fran over Hewitt is much of a mismatch.
I’d stick with my team but think it’s close.
I think team 3 is a bit underrated.

I agree there are a limited number of coaches available so that would get boring, but the coach does affect the outcome of the game. Team 3 was great imo... especially considering the late picks... picking up Robinson was a comeback.

I almost grabbed Robinson instead of Bisping cause I couldn't believe he was still out there but needed the size too badly.

Would be interesting to have poll just straight up of who wins this game cause I think some people do weight the coach way too much: Team 1 - Marquis Wright, Rob Poole, Lavon Long, Brett Bisping, Javion Ogunyemi, Coach Fran Team 2 - Ronald Moore, Kenny Hasbrouck, Edwin Ubiles, Alex Franklin, Ryan Rossiter, Coach Patsos

Each game is going to be different and while I can't make any promises they likely won't include a coach. So far not many have thrown their hat in the ring so maybe it will just be the same 6.

Coaches are only as good as their players. You guys drool all over Fran, anyone from this board could have won with his teams.

I think the idea of picking seven man teams is tremendous. Recognition for more of our great players from the past and is just common sense, no one plays five players. Good depth with the 6th and 7th man on the roster could have significantly changed the voting in the previous vote. Also gives the voters more ways to evaluation a roster.

Coaches are only as good as their players. You guys drool all over Fran, anyone from this board could have won with his teams. No need to go to that 'drool ' comment. No doubt those were great players on that team. However, it was Fran that recruited, assembled and led that team and gave them a strategy that allowed them to fulfill their potential. We've all known great teams that, for whatever reason (poor or under/overcoaching, chemistry, etc) underperformed.

I agree pick 7 man teams. MTS can coach all the teams.
