Still hurts our season was cut short, Feel fairly confident the way we were playing that we would have won MAAC tournament, but the program is in fantastic shape. We will miss Elijah, ( especially his leadership)But looking ahead to 2020/21 season we return two 1st team ALL MAAC players ( including PoY) 4 starters. 3 of our 4 freshmen got significant time and should be improved next year. We were one of the most athletic teams in MAAC the past season, and we will be even more athletic next season. Dana Tate is former 4 star recruit that can play the 3-4 or 5, very athletic and runs the floor extremely well. Aidan Carpenter 6'4" guard that can score at all 3 levels, Aidan is extremely athletic and defends the floor all 94 feet. The great thing about Dana and Aidan they have been with us since January which should really help them integrate into team next year. Excited to see Colin Golson and Bennett Kwiecinski join us in June. Probably the most important returnee- our head coach. Coach Carm was nothing short of fantastic this year. We watched him grow as a head coach as season went on. This years team set the bar for future Coach Carm Siena basketball teams. Coach Carm told us all last off season what to expect for style of play and was true to his vision. We had a very shaky bench to start season - coach brought freshmen along and gave them more time as they learned the D1 game. Siena improved approx 120 spots in most of the final computer rankings from last season. And in Sagarins recent rankings ( recent play more heavily weighted) Siena was 88th ranked team in country. Assuming no significant roster losses and we should be 2 deep at every position on floor. Coach told us he wanted to get team scoring up in low 70's this year and was right on the mark, for next season he is promising increased pace of play getting team scoring up to mid to high 70's. He wants to pressure the ball more next year. Force more turnovers and get teams out of their comfort zone. His biggest challenge may be to keep everyone happy as we will go at least 10 deep. As we finish 19/20 season and look ahead to next year, program is without a doubt in best shape since the Fran years. It truly is a great time to be a Saint!! dailygazette.com/article/2020/03/16/siena-basketball-heads-into-offseason-after-20-win-campaign

It is very important to Carm and Siena that we need to beat Iona regularly. While this year was great for Carm, Rick Pitino will be a challenge in the future.

And considering our arena, attendance and fact we turned him down a couple years ago, you know he will have our games circled on his calendar.

He certainly has the heart and got a lot of PT. I think he will make the sophomore leap. But what’s up with Tate. He can definitely play next Jan. But with only 2 years of eligibility does that mean he’s done in Dec of 2022? That would suck. And I assume we are trying for exemption to be eligillbke in the fall. But our luck there hasn’t been great.

Would not be surprised to see ESPN TV covering, not just streaming.

Not receive the waiver and play second semester in 20-21 and all of 21-22. That would be four years or portinos thereof of competition, so he could not play first semester of 22-23 becasue that would be a fifth yesar of playing. 3. Sit out all of 20-21 and then play all of 21-22 and 22-23. Based on what Carm has said, that will not happen. Bottom line: does Dana get the waiver to play first semester or not?

It truly is a great time to be a Saint!! dailygazette.com/article/2020/03/16/siena-basketball-heads-into-offseason-after-20-win-campaignGreat post Tony and again, the intelligent posts and content of this board help mitigate the absence of sports and all the negativity in the world. TY for putting some much needed smiles onto some of the participants on this board. 3 things: 1.Carm is the PERFECT leader at the PERFECT time for this program. Young, sharp, energetic, yet...mature and Carrie's himself well in game and post game. He has the kids' respect and grew with this team. I did criticize him re his road coaching and leading the team.they all got better together and that is the best kind of growth and the most rewarding. 2. YES, YES, YES, TONY! This team is athletic and deep. 6'5"-6'6" guards at THIS level, in this weaker conference can make a huge difference. Love the length and height, big guards and 6'7" wings. IMO, the best athleticism since Kenny, Ronald, Alex, Edwin, and Brett under Fran and that might be the best Siena lineup ever???( rut ro! 3.As discussed in other threads, not sure exactly who's call scheduling is? HC, AD, Board. Committee. Who knows, but some agree the scheduling given our geography, facility, and enough exposure and success.

I'm all for going big but that might be overkill. Would have much rather we employed Manny at the 2 this year rather than play Hein and Darwiche. Next year we should have at least four good guards.

Bring him on- the last time we met in 2009 he had the #1 seed in the entire tournament, couldn’t turn over our point guard, was losing to us with 8 minutes left and ended up only winning by 7 in a virtual home game for him. I love our chances with Coach Carm at the helm.

Siena's season ending kind of has a similar feel to the Yankees season in 1994 when I was a kid.
After a decade of mediocrity the Yankees had the best record in 1994 before the player strike canceled the world series.
The dynasty was born though as they won four world series championships from 1996 to 2000.
Hopefully Siena is at the start of another "big run".

I respect Iona but when Siena is good they can hang with just about anyone. I'm sure Pitino remembers that....
