Unless he graduates in 3 years or gets a waiver to a school like SU you honestly think a player with serious NBA aspirations is going to sit out especially someone who will already be 20 in October. Not happening. It's Siena or the NBA. And while I want to see the roster finalized in few weeks.... no let's hope for .500 next year....we've been rebuilding since Obama's first term. Time TO WIN NOW! I was assuming going pro, not transferring. And if Pickett leaves, shoving the chips in is a dumb, shortsighted decision. Wait one year and have a chance to win big. Hard to tell Burns with one year left....we're rebuilding, sorry.... That doesn't mean to use 'ships on fringe players. Let's play the odds it should (hopefully) be a moot point in a few weeks that Pickett is likely back and we're landing a few solid grad transfers.

Two points: This is why I said earlier that I'd be fine with 3 grad transfers and just load up and go all in while we can. You get the scholarships back in a year anyway. As to "Carm isn't ready for it"-- I'd argue that there's no way to prepare for it. Jalen is the best freshman the MAAC has seen in 30 years and there's a good chance that if he were to stay for 4 years he'd be the best point guard and maybe the best player in Siena history. That's the territory we are in. I don't see any reason to change your recruiting right now in case he doesn't come back-- you are largely screwed if he leaves anyway. If you want to say that Carm hasn't recruited enough guards (I'll give an "incomplete" here since we have a lot of spots left, but I'm expecting one immediately eligible guard, one immediately eligible big, and one sit-out transfer) that's fine. But Recruiting a bunch of guards right now doesn't change that we are screwed without Jalen. He's an irreplaceable player. If he leaves, I actually think you change your strategy and grab 2 sit-out kids, one grad transfer PG who can ease the load on Carey, and hope that Carey + Burns keeps you around .500 before loading up for 2020-21. Unless he graduates in 3 years or gets a waiver to a school like SU you honestly think a player with serious NBA aspirations is going to sit out especially someone who will already be 20 in October. Time TO WIN NOW! I find it interesting that you not only know what Pickett is thinking now but also what he may or may not be thinking 1 year from now. Things happen. 8 months ago, people were certain Jamion would be here for at least 3 years and that Darwiche might be Siena's starting PG.

I read only his opinion and him speculating on a subject, just like you and everyone else does. Nothing wrong with that. It's done dozens of times every day on here.

What is going to be most interesting for me is not only to see how JP performs against elite competition, but how he performs playing with other elite players. Does he match up? Rise to the occasion? Make other other players around him better? Shine among all of the talent he will be playing against and with? He was clearly the most talented Saint this year and in many games the most talented player. At the the elite camp, that may very well not be the case. It will be interesting and fun to see. Wish him nothing but the best.

He’s gonna be playing against a lot of older guys at this thing... the vast majority getting invited are juniors and seniors from HMs.
Tyus Battle from Cuse, Luke Maye from UNC, Myles Powell from Cuse, Harper from Auburn, Payton Pritchard from Oregon, etc. these are all kids who are 2-3 years older than Jalen and have been playing in HM leagues (and starring at that level). If Jalen shows out here, it will be very, very impressive.

hoopsprospects.com/nba-mock-draft/Another mock with no Jalen...unless he goes crazy in Chicago....he's coming back. www.si.com/nba/2019/04/30/2019-nba-draft-combine-lottery-zion-williamson-rj-barrett-ja-morant?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=sinow&xid=socialflow_twitter_si&utm_medium=social The key thing to understand here is the function of the G League Elite Camp, which contains two segments. The first half of the three-day event showcases a group of the G League’s top players from this season in a scrimmage setting. The second part essentially serves as a second draft combine, inviting the next 40 draft-eligible prospects as voted on by teams for testing, scrimmaging and interviews. The top players at that event will earn invitations to the combine proper, which typically ends up including between 60 and 70 players. Invitations for both combines went out over the weekend. Like the combine, the Elite Camp will feature a mixture of attendees, with the split in experience expected to slightly favor underclassmen.
Overall, the Elite Camp gives teams and players another crucial measuring stick with which to make informed decisions. For example, if you’re a freshman who didn’t make the combine and who then struggles at this event, it’s probably a sign that returning to college would be prudent. Undecided prospects only have about a month to figure things out, and when factoring in travel and the combine itself, it’s not enough time to get acquainted with every team and turn over every stone. There are always unintended consequences with things like this, but it seems beefing up teams’ opportunities to watch players scrimmage and creating more chances for those fringe guys to perform should only help.

Jalen will be facing some real good players in the G league camp. Many HM older guys.

Kid from Hofstra get drafted?? As far as I can tell Wright-Foreman, Cody Martin from Nevada, Marial Shayok of Iowa State, and Dewan Hernandez from Miami were the only ones from the G League camp to actually get drafted and all were in the 2nd round. Still find it hard to believe Tacko Fall isn't worth a 2nd round pick.
