Lots of doubters and negativity. We have a coach who is handling the situation very well. He is supporting his player,it will return dividends for the young man and the program. No matter what happens CARM is running a players program. Recruits will learn that. We continue to build. Carm is handling it well. But that doesn't change the fact Pickett will be told to move up to a higher conference so the "NBA" can get a better look at him. If he plays this year at Siena it will be his last. Just like Molson at Canisius, he tested the water after 1st year and left for a bigger conference after second year. Molson doesn’t have anywhere near the leverage of a great season to lean on like Pickett had. Molson needs to do the transfer thing, JP doesn’t.

That's great for Jalen... But I'm about Siena first. And the last 9 years have stunk. It would be sooooo typical of the luck of this program is after ONE 17-16 year we lose our head coach AND best player. Still hopeful he'll come back but we have to sweat out 3 more weeks of this. Can't make it up.

No Pickett, no success...unless they find some more difference makers. Take Pickett away from the team as currently constructed and it's probably a lower half PIG team fighting for 10-12 wins total...and possibly failing at it. This is where we find ourselves.

Rooting for Siena is rooting for the Siena players to have success, whether that be here or elsewhere. No one wants Jalen to go pro, but we’d be remiss not to root for Jalen to do what is best for Jalen.

Finally looked like Siena was back and hey maybe we still will be. Going 17-16 might turn out to be the worst thing long-term. Siena won nothing and just possibly made two guys money. Better we won 12 games and then won 25. Sorry if people don’t like it but that’s the truth. I want what’s best for the SIENA men’s basketball program!

If he goes, I will wish him the best and root for him at every stop he goes. However, it doesn't mean we can't hope he stays. And it doesn't change the plight we find ourselves in. Jalen Pickett is everything to the team as currently constructed: everything. He makes everyone better. He contributes the most in every single statistical category. Every statistical aspect of Siena fails vs. the rest of the MAAC without him. They'd drop like ton of bricks. It's just the situation that Siena is currently in.

Name a single statistical category they'd be elite above average in without him? Name a single one.

Name a single statistical category they'd be elite above average in without him? Name a single one. They probably would grab Felder and go Felder/Carey/Camper/Burns/Friday. That would ideally win the rebounding battle, ball control solid, and you’d probably score enough with Carey going and getting buckets, Friday scoring down low, and Burns being an inside-out 4. That might recreate 17-16 at best. It’s probably closer to 14-19.

Burns could be great but he's never actually been great before. Carey is more combo guard than true PG...and both preventing and forcing TOs would be a problem. Rebounding would have to be what they relied on but if Seymour plays a lot....it gets immediately diluted. The rebounding could be a lot better in the MAAC next year than last couple (we don't know) so it may not go as far in the W column...and if Carey doesn't have a quality partner...a poor turnover ratio could offset any rebounding prowess they can rally. Plus, that rebounding lineup would clog the lanes...not enough shooting.

Not saying he can or can't I have no better idea than the next guy but I am sure it will be dredged up somewhere in the future that I said this. This team has fallen mightily from "The Gonzaga of the East" 10 years ago.

Kid has some buzz around him coming off a phenomenal freshman year. He is testing the process as he should do within the rules set by the NCAA and NBA. Consider it a (short term) summer internship. I hope he absolutely kills it in Chicago.
