Congrats to both players!!!
We all know what Jalen has been this season, but Evan has done a very nice job offensively all year. Currently #6 in points and #4 in rebounds amongst MAAC players. Putting himself in position for 2nd Team All-MAAC possibly if he can keep it up throughout conference play.

Congratulations to Evan and Jalen. Evan is a great example of a kid who has worked hard over his 4 years at Siena, improving and getting the most out of his skill set. Very happy for him as many on here have been critical of him over the years. Evan gives maximum effort and competes in each and every game. Recognition of both young men is well deserved.

It's very true that many of us had serious doubts about Evan's ability. Kudos to Evan for his work ethic and the hard work he has done since last season. I would be remiss if I also didn't acknowledge our young coach and his staff for their part in putting Evan in the best position offensively to maximize his game.

Some of his role in his career has been thrust on him with no team around him. Evan is what he is... an ok MAAC level piece generally in a complimentary role as he is to Pickett right now. I like Fisher as the second and even more so third option (but this team doesnt really have any other options yet). I dont like his defense at all because of his lack of foot speed. It is exacerbated by the fact that many on the floor have the same issue. There is no recovery / help defense to speak of and certainly ZERO rim protection ... MAYBE that hole gets filled with Burns should he be eligible this year. Otherwise fisher leaves as a relatively one dimensional complimentary player who never had a whole lot of help and therefor been forced to play (in a role) beyond his means.

While I dont disagree with much of this-- tip your hat to the kid for being named MAAC POW.. he is halfway thru his senior year and if he keeps putting up same numbers, he is going to make one of the all MAAC teams. No need to be taking shots at him - I think most of us understand his limitations

Currently he is doing everything he personally can for the team.

And I also think he has an innate leadership ability. He shows this with his hustle and positive attitude. He is true blue collar guy who works his tail off.

I've said it before, there is way too much time spent on this board focusing on what players can't do or aren't and not enough time focusing on what they do well.

If a player scores 20 but lets up 30 in the paint its a net minus. You have to look at the total output of a player, not just the positives. That would be like watching recruiting tapes and recruiting just from those. no matter what players do well... if it doesnt translate to wins ... it doesn't matter.

Based on defensive rating (opponent points per 100 possessions when you are on the floor): we are better on defense with Fisher in than with Friday.
Smithen has the best defensive rating, Sloan has the worst of guys in the rotation.
Can’t really compare those numbers to Burns since he was playing with far different teammates in a different scheme.

Yup, there are no perfect players at the MAAC level. But, to listen to you, guys that you like (Tommy Mitchell, Joel Winkowski, Georges) have no or limited weaknesses but guys you don't like (Haddix, JP's class that graduated 2 years ago, Fisher) suck because of your perception of their weaknesses. The best you can do is give them backhanded compliments when they do something good.

I don’t remember Even ever giving up 30 paint points in defense by himself.

Mitchell went on to be a star in Canada and got NBA tryouts Wincowski had ability but preferred weed Darwiche is coming around. I also was a Clarence Jackson fan. Al fisher, Alex Franklin, among many others. I tend not to like players with swollen sense of worth. Players who are as bad on one side of the ball as they think they are good on the other. Fishers attitude has changed some since he came to siena but he started his career in this group. Worst offenders... Haddix and the king of the group... Evan hymes. Career records often say a lot
