I'll give you another situation that could potentially come up. A kid graduates in December and hasn't experienced the NCAA tournament in his career a team guaranteed to make tournament needs a solid role player and offers that kid a spot. He jumps on the offer and leaves his team high and dry. Wow, you are really dumb.

You don’t need an arbitrary games played figure when you have a waiver process. Look at the individual situation and decide. Elijah going from far away to home. Easy decision. Player moving from one college to another to participate in ncaa tournament, not so much although I still don’t see what the big deal is. Why is it so bad. A coach could do it. The ncaa should be rewarding graduates not suppressing them. I despise the idea of a kid's future being held up on the whim of the NCAA. They have a 30% rule on number of games for a medical redshirt. They have the rule that you can transfer and sit out a season and play for another team. They have the rule that if you graduate you can go play for another team the next season. None of those require waivers unless there are extenuating circumstances. They should do the same thing now with this situation and create a rule where it is always allowed. The waiver should only come up if a kid has already passed the threshold of games but has a sick relative at home that they want to move closer to. Those are the only situations that should be decided on a case by case basis.

My argument is there really should be no arbitrary amount of games in this situation. Just do what they intended and allow the student freedom of movement after graduation. That’s part of life, right. The obligations are finished he should be able to play wherever. The waiver should be automatically granted upon completion of degree requirements and acceptance into the new school without regard to games played, because they are irrelevant.

Is this a Hobson's choice or a Gordian knot? I struggle with Rubik’s cubes. 😀

He jumps on the offer and leaves his team high and dry. Again that kid who graduates in December and wants to experience the NCAA tournament. To qualify for the “waiver” you are supposed to be going for a graduate degree- a kid with half a season of eligibility has no chance of getting a grad degree, so by default he doesn’t qualify. You keep bringing up the same scenario, which is not an apple to apples comparison of Burns situation The NCAA may or may not grant the waiver- nobody really knows. If they don’t grant it, it will be because they don’t want to set the precedent. Not because of some off the wall recruiting scenario that isn’t a valid comparison. The NCAA will decide if 4 games is 4 too many- we should know answer in a week

Question...once a student graduates is he still a student at that school? Isn't he/she free to pursue whatever future coarse of education desired and associated activities. Of course and, not sure, but I believe you have to matriculate in a degree program in order to play. You at least have to take classes.

Once you graduate your commitment is fulfilled.. Example last year Cremo left UA, was he suppose to play for UA this year and attend their grad programs. Thought is you graduate your a free agent.

Wow that was quick==lets hope its a good answer From what I heard, the initially paperwork was approved, they are waiting on the final stamp of approval. Siena would like it to happen this week, I believe it will happen after Xmas or before New Years. ND/Brey have been very instrumental in getting this pushed to the front line and approved. Not saying it’s a done de, but the texts I got today from multiple people were all saying the same.

If this is so, it would be nice if he can play starting the conference part of the season. It would be even nicer if he could be cleared for the Cal Poly game. I know, I'm never satisfied. Burns is not the answer to all our problems, but he should be a help.
