Today marks 100 days since Jamion Christian was introduced as Siena's 17th head coach (May 2, 2018). Presidents are usually first judged after 100 days and let's look at Coach Christian's accomplishments so far (despite the fact that we don't play a real game for 88 days at Providence).
-Has put in a great conditioning plan for the returning players.
- Hired an outstanding staff - led by Coach Carm and has gotten back with the city rock ties
-Signed quality players - Despite the very late start Siena looks like they got a potentially very good player in Jalen Pickett... plus an interesting pick-up in Sloan Seymour. We add an SU grad transfer for one year and a Romanian kid two wildcards. Already on next year's roster is Donald Carey a budding star and Kyle Young.
Siena is in the mix for adding more talent for 2019-2020 with Michael Christmas, Mika Adams-Woods, Jamil Riggins, Preston Santos, Josh Oduro, Jameer Nelson etc plus we have had a ton of talent on the Siena campus.
-Put together a manageable non-conference schedule
-Spoke to almost all of his predecessors and have embraced the very high expectations at Siena.
-Got the Siena brand back on the map even little things like social media promoting the program.
Thus far I give Jamion an A so far....ultimately he'll be judged on wins and championships (not so much this year) but it is so refreshing to see a staff attack rebuilding the Saints from day 1 with hard work.

nicely written MTS. This old grad understood it. The whole scene is as refreshing as a cold drink of water on a hot summer's day.

One of mts better and more lucid posts.
JC gets a solid A across the board. Love the recruiting and excitement he has brought to the program.
Believe the Saints are on an upward trajectory.

Good Post MTS -n addition JC has done a very good job of balancing the classes - with all the transfers JP had classes extremely skewed

A+...hard work, confidence, an organized plan, multi-tasker, passion in his voice, knows how to lead through empowerment and accountability and objectivity in giving everyone on the current roster a clean slate and everyone on the team to earn what they receive.
I previously said 10-8 in league play.... but after seeing him work and hearing him speak I would not be surprised if this team this coming year goes 12-6 or better in league play.
Can't wait to take a road trip to Providence in 87 days. Go Saints!

Speaking of the Providence Friars, do any longtime Siena fans remember the night in what was then the Providence Civic Center when the Saints center, Eric Fleury, the Flying Frenchman, took an inbounds pass against the press and scored in the Providence basket. This was back when Rick Pitino was coaching the Friars and it was a tight game until that point. In classic Mike Deane fashion, when asked about the gaffe in the post game presser, Mike said, "He was so open he should have dunked." Those were the good old days ... but I am really excited about the upcoming season, the first w/Coach Christian and his hard working staff.
