spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/capital-region/sports/2018/07/28/friday-getting-fit-for-sienaNice piece on big Sammy! Down 18 pounds (looks visibly skinnier) and talks about how much more confident in himself he is heading into this season thanks to the new coaches. Team headed home this week and will be there until late August when school starts. This is a huge month for Sammy, I heard things from the old staff that Sammy didn’t do a good job of maintaining his work ethic and fitness while home. He can be a very good MAAC player if he’s in shape and plays with that energy we’ve seen in flashes.

Of course the old staff would say that he didn’t maintain his fitness at home 😆

Very excited for the new season. Think the biggest indictment on Patsos could be how much better guys like Friday, Camper, and Smithen look under the new system while playing with confidence.

Talk about a "culture change" you hear that a lot when a new coach comes in but it really applies to Siena. We lost our away the last 8 years between two coaches. The program badly needed structure and Jamion is clearly providing that. We just have to keep landing top talents and the rest will take care of itself.
Also all new players should know their program's history. It is so important to recognize the players that came before you who made Siena the strong program they have been in the past. I think this coach realizes that and so did the other great ones Deane, Hewitt and McCaffery.

Not surprising that Patsos wasn't communicating Siena's history to his players, Fran had him and his teams for breakfast, lunch and dinner for years...

Looking for a big step up in production from Sammy this year. Like everything about this new coaching staff so far. Could not be more different than their predecessors. As time goes by , I look back on the Patsos years, I am pressed to think of ANYTHING positive he did for the program and the players. How he got the job and then lasted as long as he did is mind boggling. Currentl players not knowing about the programs history and past greats, is just another example of the failed Patsos experiment. What at TOOL and waste of $$$! Looking forward to brighter days at the TU and better things to come for the Saints.

I am very confident that Sammy will surprise a lot of folks this year. He is out of the JP shadow of doom and gloom and should shine. I watched a preseason intra squad scrimmage last year that was coached entirely by the staff - JP was not in the house - Sammy was, pure and simple, a beast on both ends of the floor and played almost the entire scrimmage. It was depressing to see him regress as the season unfolded and then devolved into another same-old same-old JP style...

Ditto- he can play, very excited what he can do this year.
Amazing when sports align with the training program can do to your players. Richards I feel is going to be very, very good too.
