More memories. All American Dick Groat. Later a pirate SS. Richie Geran and Walter Dukes. May have been in a pro exhibition as after Seaton Hall. They
played for Rochester Royals. Also remember the six overtime game with Niagara. Taps Galleger gathers his team around a bucket at mid court. The Armory Bathroom was downstairs🤫. When my Dad took me to games we sat in the Balcony.......... I got a better view by the time I was 7. My guys sat under the scorers table.😉

Looking back at this now... would anyone add Pickett to their list of top 5 players for the Siena basketball era or still to early?

Looking back at this now... would anyone add Pickett to their list of top 5 players for the Siena basketball era or still to early? Top 5 players or in the best 5 man lineup? If you told me I had to have a roster of role players but could pick one Siena player of all time and had to win as many games as possible then I would have to give serious consideration to Pickett. But if I'm picking a 5 man team of former Siena players that will win the most games together then Pickett doesn't make the squad, the pick n roll going through him all the time would turn the other all time greats into role players.

The only names I can think if that absolutely need to be on the all time starting 5 are Marc Brown and Doremus Bennerman, and they both were scoring point guards. Tough place to start. Huge amount of talent piled up beneath those two transcendent type players. If Bennerman wasn't behind Marc for his freshman year, who knows what his numbers might have been. At the risk of blowing this thread to pieces, I truly believe Bennerman was better than Mark Brown. If they had to guard each other, who wins? Bennerman was so fast, it was crazy and a better shooter. Full disclosure, Siena Class of 1994. Both were great but I think the difference is Biz made the other players he played with so much better.

I liked McCoy too, but he wasn't better than Terwilliger. Nothing against either guy. Both were terrific. But if I had to pick one for a game I had to win, I'd have to go with Steve McCoy. I think his level of intensity, and chip-on-the-shoulder attitude, make the difference. I watched Terwilliger score 20 against Jeff Ruland his freshman year. Basically, in one half. Kicked off team his senior year, he still got drafted by the Knicks. Dan was pretty special.
