WOW! Siena beat out St Peters and Canisius for this recruit? How is this somehow better than JP recruits? If JP brought this recruit in half of your guys hair would be on fire. #1 It's May and the new coach has been on the job a week. I'm not sure what kind of blue chip talent you were expecting under those circumstances. Watch some video of the kid. He looks pretty good actually. #2 Patsos recruits would have no other offers. So if we beat out two other Division 1 programs on our level, this is indeed an upgrade. #3 When is the last time you've seen Siena have a recruit visit and get a commitment within 24 hours before visiting their other options? #4 Kenny Hasbrouck committed in May 2005 and didn't have a lot of other options either. He was the beginning of what was to come. The rest is history. So keep an open mind that Christian knows what he's doing.

Let the negativity begin - only 8 days in from getting a new HC - f'n amazing - looks like "hockeyguy" let the fact that he's not a Siena fan (let alone a hoop fan) slip with the "...half of YOUR guys..." comment...

This post is way off base or uninformed. Refresh my memory when was last time Siena brought in a kid for official visit that had multiple offers and signed the kid within a few days of visit? There may be an outlier but I can’t remember it happening since Fran was coach. —Jimmy almost never beat anyone for a recruit. And when he occasionally did, he almost always had a ‘hook’ knew the kids AAU or High school coach. Fact of the matter is Jimmy and his staff didn’t really like recruiting- their trips to California was more vacation than recruiting, they seldom even attended east coast recruiting events and if they did they were invisible. No one is saying JP never recruited a decent kid, but overall his recruiting was horrible- mainly due to lack of effort. He knew he was losing 4 seniors at end of 2016/17 season and his answer was to spend almost the entire off season on vacation. Jamion has done more in a week than JP’s staff did in a typical month. It is amazing how lucky coach’s get in recruiting when they work hard at it. Hard work at recruiting was something JP and his staff never was accused of I'm not sure why Hockey guy is talking about JP recruits in a welcome Jalen Pickett thread- JP is a failed Siena coach one other factor. Christian doesnt sound like a used car salesman selling you a flood damaged vehicle when he's in your living room.

Wow. Amazing what a coach with a good personality, new facilities, potential playing time, a big arena, can do to get a kid to come to Siena! Jimbob, how's Vietnam now? Isn’t it time we move on from the JP era. Not sure what good it serves. The new coach will be and should be measured by what he does/accomplishes not what he does compared to his predecessor. I am excited about our future and we don’t need to relitigate the past. We all know the program appears to be heading in the right direction again. Go Saints!

I agree; but in this case we finally have a HC talking about player DEVELOPMENT...and he talks about it a lot. That tells me that he will be evaluating and putting each kid in a position to play to strengths AFTER they get in condition to play his system wherever they fit by position. No more agents dictating that someone has to play the 1-5, no more putting people out of position for shits and giggles, no more pitting against each other. THIS, this is what a coach does in sports, business, parenting and life. You lay out the facts, plan and goals and you build a cohesive unit to work toward those goals who all bring their piece to the table knowing that the 12 others are dependent on them putting forth their best.

Welcome to Siena, Jalen!
Man if college players could only make income off their likeness, this dude would make a fortune as the face of the Siena Fence company's new Pickett Fence line....

The MAx prep page link isnt displaying. I was looking for how he did this year at Spire-- cant find any stats - keep in mind D1 circuit stats are for last year- Jalen had year of prep, prep school kids often come in more prepared for college competition due to extra year of age and development

Reminds of former Siena great KH. Can only hope he's as good. Not too sure that the 6'4" isn't a bit inflated. Looked shorter than too many out on the floor to be that tall at the AAU and HS level. Seems to show a variety of ways to get the ball in the hoop but pretty sure he doesn't have the jumps to dunk.
