What does, his, age have to do,with it. He had his run, he has responsibility in the last 8 years. School just moves him on. . Can’t get behind this. He’s a Vice President too... what if Siena upgrades it’s entire sports programs and hires an ad as well so jd can focus on vp duties. I’m fine with that. D’Arg has done some good things like getting the practice facility in place. However, he shouldn’t be hiring any more coaches or negotiating contracts. Siena needs a basketball person for their next AD who emphasizes to the head coach this is how we’ve been successful at Siena during our glory days. Move D’Arg just into the VP role you can spin it as a promotion if you must.

Pay him to drink coffee. Siena athletics isn’t that large. Think people, nice guy, he had his run, time to move on. You feel sorry for him start a go fund me page for him.

So you know what jd does on a daily basis? Fill me in. All I have heard is he is bad at picking basketball coaches, and people I trust on here have even disputed that. Any major compliance issues at Siena during his tenure? Facilities upgrades, top 100 attendance? The ad is basically an administrative position and although data is spotty the salary is about what you would expect of a director of a unit of an organization. Don’t think it’s worth that type of scrutiny. Now if he wants to retire great. If not I’m not participating in this witch hunt, all I care about is us getting a good basketball coach.

Ask and answer your own question. His past hiring speaks for itself. Again, if some thought is put into it, you put a new AD in place, he is not needed, Extra baggage. Of course your not paying his salary. Gory you, sound like HJ concerning JP. In business, which the program is you move on.

MTS.......how could you possibly “Like” this post from Gorvy? You’ve been front-and-center calling for John D to be fired for months, but now you “Like” a post that says Gorvy is “not participating in this witch hunt”, when you’ve been leading the manic chorus for his termination? As another poster suggested, you should step away from this whole venture and not return until the dust settles.

j Darg is like 55. Not exactly retirement age. What does, his, age have to do,with it. He had his run, he has responsibility in the last 8 years. School just moves him on. you said he needs to retire.. you didnt say siena should fire him..... big difference of someone walking away to the beaches of Florida vs being shown the door.

Ever hear of retirement packages to move one along. Sorry at 55 he can still find another gig. Change needed.

2018 was probably too early at 34.
But 2024 at 40 with six more years of experience and a year as an associate head coach —a completely different ballgame hopefully.

He graduated Dayton in 1982 & has been at Siena almost 39 years so it is likely he’ll retire from Siena on his terms.

Darg has to be pushing 65 give or take, Mike confused things here by resurrecting a 6 year old thread. Old Dave’s comment is old😉

Retirement is a individual thing. 62 or 63 is old enough to retire, but some would consider it an early retirement. If you are well invested or have an annuity like most college employees in TIAA-CREF it is doable without too much loss of income. That said, some people want to work into their 70s, especially in academia.
