Yes, in fact, I have had dinner with him, ask for yourself. I honestly think it is best for him to move on from Siena. So you know of a person after a dinner date? Ok! I actually agree he should move on. This program and those close to the hoop program hasn’t been a positive for him. However, I think it’s wise for Nico to keep all options open. Good freshman year (played entire season) Horrible Soph year (he should’ve been RS) Wicked Jr year (pushed away from team) This youngman love to play the game of Bball. Yet he didn’t play three full seasons for Siena. He did assist the team in achieving a championship under the previous coach. His passion for the game gave the team the leadership it needed during halftime break of that Monmouth vs Siena game 2yrs ago. While the team had already given up with a 14pt deficit and hearing the Monmouth team already celebrating a win in the locker room (at the half) it was Nico (with a sprained ankle) who told his team mates don’t hang your heads we got time! Coach, put me in please. I have to help my team! We all know the result of the story. Generally, it takes a team to win team sports but during this particular game.... everyone had given up when Nico stepped up. Yes, he need to reset his disposition at times. But, I know for certain under a teaching coach with actual positive leadership goals for his team ........this youngman can soar..... this team can win! Just my 5cents Let me start off by saying I’m a Nico fan. My kids are also Nico fans. They went to the games with white headbands on. The Monmouth game was awesome! That word is overused, but that’s what he was that night, he was sick. I also saw a Nico that didn’t play when he didn’t want to play. That part didn’t endear him to the fans. Maybe it was JP or other teammates, I don’t know and honestly I don’t care. The drama of a JP coached team is ridiculous. I guarantee you will not see any drama under a Beilein coached team and I would be willing to guess that parents of players will be seen and not heard.

I get it Mom, but the fact of the matter is that he could have moved on after his Soph year when it was very clear that he and JP weren't on the same page and that the environment was not for him. Too much drama, not enough cohesion. Both sides have fault here so let's be honest...I saw the Monmouth game and credit to him that he took it over, sprained ankle and all. As I have said many times, King Rice only had to make him move laterally and that rain of threes would not have happened. I don't know what Championship you are referring to in the past three years, I must have missed it. You are right it takes a team and a team player makes his team better. One thing I can guarantee is that no other coach will come in here and tell him he will get 25 shots a game. Teams don't win that way.

I’d love to see what he’d do under coach Beilein if given the chance.

OK I apologize for bringing Nico back up but it probably isn't that horrible for an incoming coach to have scholarships to hand out to players he's recruited instead of not having a say in the roster makeup for a year or two. If Becker is hired he may also be able to bring kids he recruited like Patsos did. Having 2 unused scholarships has its drawbacks but could be attractive for an interested coach is all I'm saying

When a rs was requested, the next step was to transfer. Instead, the request was disregarded, and Nico was encouraged to continue to play. I also agree, a player should not be told to take 25 shots a game. It’s a team sport c’mon we’re adults. At that time Nico was 18-19 and the coach is creating bias among the players...... wth! I can only imagine what else he was told until it got out of hand, and he was forced off team! There are fans, and also true fans!!!!! I’m done (for now) ✌🏽

In my humble opinion this was another one of Patsos' misuse of talent from the start. I am not sure how a coach/AD can just 'disregard' a transfer request, but I would not put anything past this staff (sans Abe, who as you all know, I believe is just collateral damage). We can certainly agree that the entire thing was mis-handled from the get go.

I still think Becker is using us to shake down UVM. Anyone know who is agent is? Yes you could be right, HJ does get good feeling though. Pitino, great to speculate, debate but he won’t be here. Beilein I can’t comment, besides information from the postings here I know nothing of the man besides him having a pedigree. Hope Siena makes out.

Anyone? If he’s legitimately a candidate I think he’s the most proven and least risky option of all the “realistic/likely” candidates. How do you argue against a proven winner recruiter and coach. I get the Pitino interest and understand what it could do for this program I just don’t see the College pulling the trigger.

That 2nd half display by Nico against Monmouth was one of the best half of basketball I've ever seen by a Siena player, and I have seen almost every game since the later 80s.ps:Doremus Bennerman in the NIT was another fantastic effort;A scoring record that lasted for a couple of decades at Madison Square Garden.GO SAINTS!!
