Here's the deal for all you right-wing warriors who see a conspiracy in any change in society: It ain't 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, etc., anymore. You can call it PC and get all upset about it, or acknowledge these changes and work from there. I'm not crazy about all the changes during my lifetime either, but having minors verbally (or physically) abused by adult authority figures was never right.
Moreover, major publicly-traded corporations (like mine, a Fortune 50 company) also recognize it's not right in the workplace for a boss to abuse his/her adult subordinates. Yes, we still have bad people--there have always been and will always be bad people--but to do business in the modern world it makes sense NOT to alienate millions of potential or actual customers by having these bad people represent the company.
To get back to Siena's self-made dilemma: it's inconsistent witht the school's values to have this kind of behavior demonstrated (repeatedly, not just in the verbal abuse of the team student-manager) by a high-profile representative of the college, and it's BAD BUSINESS to have Jimmy serve as the face of Siena in the media. I wouldn't want Bob Knight or Rick Pitino either, regardless of the victories they would presumedly bring to the program.
Ultimately, as much as I love Siena basketball, Siena College is much bigger than that. I say that as an alum, the son of an alum, and the father of 2 alum, as well as a former Saints Alive supporter.

dailygazette.com/article/2018/04/06/hot-seat-too-hot-for-patsos-or-anyoneA few years ago, I hung around a Siena practice for about 20 minutes, and if I had had a roster in front of me, I could’ve checked off over half the players for having been singled out to be lit up by Patsos with a loud, profane stoppage of the workout. I suspect he got around to the rest of the lineup after I left.
The targets even included one of the student managers, who was blistered for punching in a wrong clock set-up for a drill. The student manager took it in stride.Even the media is throwing JP under the bus. Man, was that an interesting article! It hit the mark, right on.

While agree with this and the fact that Patsos foolishly and willingly gave Siena all the rope they needed to hang him, there is no denying that Colleges/Universities are clearly using the “clause card” to get out from under bad contracts with bad coaches. You can’t deny it just do a Google search and read the countless articles. If you’re a coach today and given society’s “new” social mores you need to be a “helluva” lot smarter. That old school Bobby Knight stuff isn’t gonna fly today. Patsos has no one to blame but himself!

Let's see. PC as in politically correct or pretty cruel. It would be interesting to compile a list of what billmurray referred to as the Coaching HOF but I would add of abusers. Of course you have to start with Bobby Knight. Reading "Playing for Knight" by Steve Alford certainly tore open the curtain on that maniac, although his abusive tactics continued for years as the IU administration preferred to look the other way. A shill like Dick Vitale still refers to him as "The General," Robert Montgomery Knight. I suppose if it was your son he was choking on the practice floor your opinion of old school tactics might be different. Should we continue? Dave Bliss, Mike Rice, Mike Lonergan (Fill in the blank) ______________. I’m not talking about violence, I’m talking about the oversensitve society that is being created by the left, social justice “warriors” and sanctimonious people like you that have no sense at all. Give me a break, go back to your safe space. I agree there is too much PC, but do you also agree there is bullying. Let's use an example. Do you think Jimmys comments are over the line, if true

But those are, for the most part, values shared by the majority of people including myself. Your comments strike me as very similar to another poster who thought they were on higher moral ground. I think the comments you made are obvious and universally supported.

But I also want JP to get a fair shake, if he did something wrong, fine make a deal and settle. If he didn’t, don’t exaggerate claims and just pay the man. And let’s not ruin someone’s life.
