Starting to hear no one wants to leave....IF that's the case, a 10 win season on the horizon. Can't blame some of these kids. They know this is as good as it gets. Why help bring D-2 into their future? Didn't the AD throw the players under the bus in mid-Feb and say "we need more talent"? Degnan has had four years...so moving on from him isn't pushing him out. Wonder if the players have been told not to announce their intentions until the coaching situation is resolved? Or simply the coaching staff can't recruit anyone better. They didn't have a problem sending White, Wolfe, WB, LaRose, Paige etc on their way Siena was those players best option. This whole situation stinks to high heaven honestly. You think Degnan was sold on coming here to play just one year? Not sure what situation you are referring to, but the main one is recruiting and signing kids and then discarding them. If they are not good enough, don't sign them.

Right now Jimmy can’t win with you guys, if he signs some talent ( highly unlikely btw) you guys will bitch he is running guys off, if he doesn’t sign any talent we are going to stink again next year. I agree. So he should just focus on what I want him to do and sign Timberlake and Welch. I've come to the logical conclusion that I'm the only one he should worry about pleasing.

Agree with both you and Tony. Concentrate on Timberlake and Welch, though IMO he already knows he won’t get them . As for the years ago. Different time folks. You want to compete, follow the new rules if not, well we know what happens. BTW goes for the academic situation also. Give them credit for trying to upgrade.

Team needs talent....players we have had a full year to prove if they are talented enough and they won 8 games! They should all expect to be cut and replaced....scholarships are year to year, you have to hold up your end and perform. Jimmy had done a shitty job in getting talent but I for one am just fine if he parts ways with the players that are in over their heads as it will end up being best for everyone. Players can go prosper at a leval they should be at and Siena can then have a shot of brining in talent. But I dont want to see him replace a guy with another low major, D2, zero offer guy.

Are you saying that ALL of the players should “be cut and replaced”? If not ALL, then which players should go? Please be specific so we’ll all know which players have to replaced. Does Prince have to go? Jordan, Roman (if he can play again), Christian? Sammy, Evan, Ben, Manny? Khalil, Ashante, Thomas?

I know that this is harsh but it is also reality, competitive teams do not keep players because they are nice guys guys and good people. Jimmy has swung and missed now it is on him to clean it up, like a bad hire at work. I don't envy him having to have all of these conversations, but at the end of the day it is his fault as he brought them on board. If a new coach came in that is exactly how it would be.

But it is different with a new coach. In this scenario, the guy who selected these disposable players still gets his half mil with a big oopsie.....great way to run things.

Lets get one thing perfectly clear- JP and or Siena does NOT have to have a plan. Don’t you think Darg and Siena know how bad the program HAS BEEN THE LAST 8 YEARS? You guys are just repeating yourself. Heaven forbid if KK or Goldsaint ( both posters tend to be positive) posts anything other than the sky is falling you guys are all over them. Listen I “get it” as a longtime fan you feel JP and Darg is taking your hobby away. Well newsflash for you- if they don’t do anything they are, it’s not a mistake. How many times can MTS post something is going down- fire him etc. If MTS you are that unhappy—please just walk away from Siena hoop’s and this board. That’s goes for the rest of you- if you are not willing to wait—then please walk away, but don’t bring your misery to everyone on this board either. Please note I’m not saying everything is perfect either- I’m willing to wait for a few weeks- if Jimbo is still coach and no impact recruits in- I’m prepared to walk away from Siena hoops- I’ve already contacted others interested in running this board. Trust me we all know how you feel about JP- his coaching his recruiting, his vacations etc—If Siena is all right with that- and you are not- save yourself the aggravation and walk away

I agree with you Tony, but there are likely just as many of us that are sick of reading that all it will take is an impact recruit to morph So-so into Coach K - Oduro was billed and given time as an impact player and the overall impact was "Thud" ... We all saw Nico as an impact player for brief interludes - his impact was heard as the door slammed on his rump leaving the ARC and taking any hope of a decent season with him - I guess you could say he had an impact on So-so but unfortunately, it was a so-so impact...

Not every recruit is created equal. The problems with offensive efficiency with Oduro were known before he played his first game. Just not by everyone...or Jimmy. They were in the available #s and FIBA stats...etc etc. How many times last preseason did I compare him to Anosike for his style of scoring, lack of shotblocking, and FT shooting but say he might not rebound as well? So many. Nico had his own PPS issues already before the season and those were known. Where he failed was not improving or ever realizing his potential due to court smarts and shot selection....which...it was known since high school that he struggled with. Horn and Richard were known to be shooters who struggled on D. Fisher was known to struggle on D. Penn was exactly what he was on paper in HS. We hoped he'd improve on his assists but that was wishful thinking. He was same exact guy he was supposed to be on paper. These guys' talents aren't as big of surprises as some make them out to be. Honestly, when compared with what we thought they were coming out of highschool, I have not really seen too many surprises out of this group aside from maybe Oduro rebounding more poorly than expected. They've kind of individually done what you'd expect. It's just Jimmy often struggles with managing them and also should have filled some weaknesses in building the roster that, on paper, anyone who studied these players strengths and weaknesses should have seen coming. Last year's defense was always most dependent on Penn, Smithen, Clareth, and Camper. We knew that before the season. Clareth left. Penn got injured. Smithen was jerked around. And Camper never played. Last year's offense was mismanaged the most because the immediate inefficiences with Oduro that were ALWAYS there before were made a focus instead of de-emphasized. Saying that potentially all-around guys like Timberlake and Welch who defend, rebound, score, and shoot FTs at a high clip is the same thing as Oduro...well...is just not NEARLY the same thing. Recruits aren't nearly the surprises people often make them out to be. There's much room for surprise and disappointment for sure but not so much that you can just dismiss known tangible proven abilities/skillsets. Defenders can usually defend. Shooters can usually shoot etc.. Getting these 2 guys could very likely be a game changer. Guys with 4 or 5 tool potential have a historically proven tendency to make coaches look good no matter what they do from that point on.

C’mon MP- who is saying we only need 1 impact player- pretty sure the consensus is we need at least two impact players that are preferably above avg athletically. And don’t tell me the troll, you guys bite on his stupid posts all the time. We have a few misguided souls that think the team had plenty of talent and only the head coach held them back. My guess is JP could sign Welch and Timberlake ( it’s not going to happen) but if he did you guys would still complain. For most part everyone on board realizes Siena needs a new head coach- even HJ thinks so, although he thinks JP should be paid in full. If Siena chooses to do nothing due to financial considerations – then Siena is saying a big FU to you ( and me) .

Sad... Sitting back watching the spectacle Siena basketball has become once on the brink of becoming an elite mid-major and now hovering around a RPI in the 300 range and one of the weaker programs in the country. The administration squandered a golden opportunity with not 1 but 2 foolish hires and a horrid amateurish contract.
What are you gonna do at this point but just wait and see what happens. The admins done about all the damage they could possibly do ... only place to go from here is up ... hopefully!
