#161 in 2016, #159 in 2017. Where does JP land in 2018? Where realistically should the HC at Siena rank in the listing? d1coachcorner.com/D1coachratings.htmCollege Basketball Coach Rankings is an overall career ranking based on past and current tournament appearances and wins. Higher scores are given to coaches with NCAA appearances and wins. The deeper a coach coaches into the post season tournament the higher the score.

He ranks almost in the middle. JP is a .500, 50/50 coach at best. I actually this ranking a fair representation of him, about average, many better, many worse. I think like most on here believe, Siena deserves more and should demand more of their HC.
BTW, the ranking positioning is not only based upon the coaches performance, but how the coach compares against his peers. So that is how JP can move up 2. Unbelievable that this needs to be spelled out on here.

Wow are you kidding me GG4E? You really do not understand how this or rankings in generals work. YIKES! Stop focusing on the winning 8 games and moving up two. Yes, that means the coaches ranked worse based upon that I have already called in my orignal post and is listed on the rankings page:
College Basketball Coach Rankings is an overall career ranking based on past and current tournament appearances and wins. Higher scores are given to coaches with NCAA appearances and wins. The deeper a coach coaches into the post season tournament the higher the score.
What part do you not get?
I really did not think this was going to turn into a discussion of the ranking basis itself. Was hoping it was going to turn into a discuss of how JP is a mediocre at best coach no matter what the measurement is.

That ranking was calculated in May 2017, before his 8-24 season.

That ranking was calculated in May 2017, before his 8-24 season. I hope so because Eric Musselman was only a few spots ahead. So there is hope.

That ranking was calculated in May 2017, before his 8-24 season. NOPE, it was 2/20/2018, so it included the 8 win season..................how can anyone here think that he moves up 2 spots, and yes it is gauged against others plus criteria, but it is not possible to move UP the list after that season............cabiche.................

Weird. When I click on the link from my phone it says updated 05/07/2017, when I click on the link from my PC it says updated 02-20-2018. But the lists on both are identical so I suspect it may still be last year's rankings. Either way, I agree with your main point.

Either way, I agree with your main point. right, and not arguing with HoopDad just for the heck of it, and it wasn't his list to begin with.............I am all agreement that JP is the antithesis of "mediocre", in fact he deserves the newly named Dave Magarity lifetime achievement award to the coach who most resembles just blah on his coaching resume during his career..........or as Tony puts it very kindly "so-so"............but he can't possibly move up, not after this past seasons inclusion, not buying it for one minute..........

Well if the basis is NCAA appearances many coaches dont have one of those so automatically patsos beats 200 right there even though he’s coached 100 years.
