I remember that game well. I was able to get very good seats and was joined by Tony, who was down playing golf, and Nole Saint, who drove down from Tallahassee. Vandy made a bit of a run early in the second half and I thought Tony was going to have a stroke on the spot. It was a great day in Tampa for those who root for the underdog, as two 12 seeds and two 13 seeds won.

It’s going to be a year minimum so we all just need to buckle up and enjoy the ride. With this much recruiting freedom allowed him he’s most assuredly back at least one more year. Do we really know that? If so the school may be stuck with a bunch of Papi( the troll)s as fans. Essentially people that could care less about siena basketball. People that think Siena should go to the ncaas every 10 years, if that, and be happy with it. I’ll be watching UA. Tickets are cheaper and the product is better. Pretty sad we got fools running this program. The UA product is not better. No way, no how. Just because they win more games? I find their style boring and unentertaining. And if you think that way you should become a season ticket holder there. Those of you who are bailing on the Siena program because of your dislike for the current coach and AD , and because of them loosing are NOT true Fans IMO. I am not happy at all with the program's current state and would like to see Patsos gone, however I will continue to support them, be a season ticket holder and attend games. To do otherwise is to be a "Fair Weather Fan". Seems like there are quite a few on here.

JP should have never been given an extension period! D’argenio, by giving JP a 3 year extension, essentially hired the same shitty coach twice! Inexcusable! Telling people they are not fans, are you a toddler for God’s sake? We are fans of the school not the coach. If the tuc is empty next year, they have no one to blame but themselves and complacent “fans” like you. All you are doing is enabling the slow death of a storied program. I don’t want to be a part of that. Get over yourself.

I smell a Rat among us. A Stinky one. You are coming at the wrong Siena Fan.
How about instead on bailing on the program, pulling support and not showing up, you continue to support, challenge the leadership, express you concerns and demand change for the better. That what I am doing as a Fan.

The program may be dying a slow death due to the "fair weather fans" bailing out on the program. True fans stick with a team and program through the good times and the bad ones. Enjoy your boring games at the plush SEFCU arena...

Anyway back to this thread it was amazing how quickly Fran turned Siena around. He inherited a 6-24 team and two years later they were playing for the MAAC championship. Two years after that he had two Round of 32 appearances and a team that was a top 30 program nationally. Fran took a 6 win team to 15 then to 20 to 23 and then 27 wins twice.
Maybe Gorvy is right wait out the storm and get a really good coach in there. It can be done again as Deane and Hewitt both did it before McCaffery (even if Hewitt didn’t win an NCAA game).

The only problem is what if JP is average and ends up winning 15-18 games, is Siena going to keep him? We might be on this merry go round forever.

Man..that team was extreamly talented. However,it’s the past! Siena needs to find another Hasbrouck and Ubiles. Hopefully that’s Welch and Timberlake. 😉

I keep waiting for Vandy to make a run, but Kenny Tay and Ubiles( and cast) were having none of that..LOL

I remember saying to one of the parents that we had such a big lead and Edwin hadn’t really even started scoring yet!

As great as the Vandy and Ohio State wins were I'll always remember what could have been against Villanova and Louisville. Nova was a 12 seed but we did not really match-up well with them. I think we also probably enjoyed beating Vandy too much which for a sophomore dominated team was understandable.
Louisville was the #1 overall seed with two lottery picks yet we still almost beat them. I think the #9 seed although great respect was kind of a curse. If we're an 11 seed that year we probably go to the sweet 16 and maybe even the elite 8 IMHO. The Purdue loss also is haunting if CJ plays I think we win and then get a coin flip game against Texas A&M (who wasn't as good as Purdue was that year).
Please, basketball Gods, give us another chance soon ;-)

The three year run of the greatest Siena team ever kind of throws the average off a little.
