What to expect over next few weeks

Don’t want to break anyone’s bubble or sound negative- but as they say “it is what it is” 5 years in Jimmy has a track record.

Interesting reading going back thru recent years recruiting threads. Jimmy runs same drill every March/April (he also runs similar type drill every September October)

Don’t expect Welsh, Timberlake etc- We will hear talk of decent recruits- some come on official some unofficial some don’t come at all. After staff swings and misses for example see last April/March; Jordan Roland, Scott Hitchon, Terry Nolan jr ( after he became free agent again) and Skyler Nash. Kids transferring out will start leaking out in early April – also in March/April we will start hearing about LM/D2 kids with little to no offers ( see BJ Armstrong this year) that Jimmy will sign when he strikes out on main targets

Wish I was wrong- but go back thru the recruiting threads and it’s the same thing every year. That is the dilemma Jimmy now faces. His first couple years he used excuse he had young starters for reason he couldn’t recruit, then it was his asst coaches and now we hear it’s the Siena board- only so long you can B/S the fans- talk about your nonexistent 5 year plan. Or in this year’s case the so called plan for resurrection of Siena basketball. It all starts with recruiting and this staff has struggled mightily on recruiting trail, more so than any other Siena staff I can remember over the last 30 years . Every year its same “drill” I certainly hope he doesnt sign more LM/D2 type talent this April

The reality is that most people don’t expect much of anything from the current regime. When JP announced that we expect to go to the NCAA tourney next year most here thought it was a joke. It appears that JP has hired Papi as his “expectation” director for the program. Basically saying things they know are not true. I can take Papi trolling us, but it seems like the program is doing it now.

Regarding recruiting. Know it is fun to speculate, hope for the best, want the best. But to get worked up as some of the posters do when they have absolutely no,relevance regarding any recruit. Curious is all. I read the posts, know JP does a piss poor job, but not a damn thing I can do about it except call for,his dismissal.

I agree, putting the blame for a single recruit not coming to Siena because of this board is silly. But I must admit, the Papi posts and the low expectations he has for the program would definitely turn off a lot of potential recruits.

The administration has painted themselves into a corner by extending Jimmy's contract without any objective rationale for it. They're apparently choosing to stonewall on the results rather than eat his contract. Their choice. But D1 sports is a very public business. Great risks, great rewards. So it's fair now to lambast them for incredibly poor judgments, just as they (or their predecessors) were praised after the conference championships and unforgettable NCAA victories.

So I'm voting with my wallet, supporting the team and program from a distance and ready to jump back in wholeheartedly when the team--and the coach--perform on the court and off in a way that represents the Siena tradition.

The other issue is even if JP stays we will have assistants quit or be pushed out and who we will have less resources on the recruiting trail at a key period

Still no word from the College giving the “nod” to Jimmy. I still find this very odd given all the rumors and our need for players like Timberlake and Welch . These kids want stability and to know the guy they are committing to isn’t a short timer. Until i here something definitive and something other than “no comment” I’m not convinced that it’s a done deal he’ll be back. Just a observation/hunch/oddity & not a prediction.

If I was a betting man I would still bet that JP is back but I do find it odd that D'Arg has declined to commit to JP a few times when give the chance. Now he did say they're committed to him in mid-February (for how long?)

Why not just end all speculation and say he’s our guy for next year? If for nothing else but to help with recruiting. If they really are still analyzing things over they to put it to bed by the final four at the absolute latest. Don’t need this cloud hanging over us in the spring. This season has been over for more than two weeks.

I also find it odd (not running anyone off) that nobody has announced their intent to transfer. Let's face it you always have a couple every off-season.

Going by past history of Jimmy-- players dont announce their attention to transfer until sometime in April- so no announcement of transfers is not unusual for this time of the year in the Jimmy patsos era

I see nothing negative here, indicating that players tend to transfer out in April or later is a statement that happpens to be true. There’s no bashing there .... seriously c’mon now!
