Headcoach job description Find, evaluate, offer, sign, develop, coach talent Nowhere in there does it imply the coach is given anything So if you don’t do any of the above well, you’ll most likely fail, particularly the first 4 criteria. Yes in college the coach IS the general manager. He is responsible for the roster nobody else.

Reality check. It's like hitting the lottery. It's not normal or expected. Ask Virginia what their reality is.

The reality is this is a crazy tournament, maybe best ever so far. Considering lower seed over higher seed pints (example 16 umbc over 1 Virginia equals 15) the first round tallied 49 crazy points and the second round has 9 so far. To put it in perspective last year was crazy but had a total of 73 crazy points for all 63 games.
Rip “favorites”. (Rpi in parenthesis)
Virginia 15. (1) Creighton 1 (44) Arizona 10 (13) Miami 5. (28) Missouri 1 (43) Virginia tech 1 (61) Wichita State 9 (16) Arkansas 3 (30) Tcu 5 (26) Tennessee 8 (8)
Looking at the three favorites that lost with an rpi worse than 36, how did those programs all get 8 seeds. Other at large programs that had an rpi worse than 50: Texas (51) Kansas State (53) Florida State (54) nc state 64 Arizona State 66
These programs did not get in despite having an rpi better than 50:
33 middle tennsee State 23-7 34 usc 23-11 38 Louisville 20-13 39 Western Kentucky 23-10 40 saint Mary’s 28-5 50 Boise State 22-8

come on, wake up Siena, 8yrs now & counting...............getting to the BIG DANCE, and then winning a game (or 2), will correlate to over $120 million in combined revenue and advertising exposure as being reported by the Wall Street Journal (based upon the UMBC & Loyola-IL wins)..............school needs money, so get your men's hoop program in order which is essentially the highest revenue producing program they have on campus.........that funds ALL the other sports, exposure brings in more students (which is more revenue by the way) and allows the school to expand for the future with upgrades to facilities or build new ones.............just sayin'..........

Goodwill thought out post stipulating the facts, of course same facts were used 8 yeas ago and the admin blew it than let’s hope they learned their lesson. How much loss revenue marketing name recognition lost due to poor management.

Look at Loyola Chicago its the 7th year for their coach.
Never finished better than 5th in conference until this year. First trip back to NCAA since 1985.

Save it Papi( the troll), what indicators do you have that this team with additions is dancing in 2 years? Just more time that’s all it takes? Jimmy hasn’t had a chance the last 5?

Father Kevin knew this... he was/is a big supporter of the basketball program. The problem is he picked two duds for head coach. The more successful the basketball program is the better for everyone in the school. A rising tide lifts all boats. Wish some of these elitist professors got that. You can accomplish this goal and not sell yourself out either. 8 years ago we were right there with Butler - then they went to two straight national championship games and the Big East and we went down the drain. Now I'd just like Siena to be like Iona and Vermont. Is that too much to ask?

But let's talk a more relevant comparison. Ryan Odom turned UMBC around immediately. From a 7 win season (preceded by 6 consecutive single digit win seasons!!!) to two consecutive 20+ wins seasons, an NCAA appearance and a 1st round win vs #1 seed. I guess Odom's beating Jimmy like a drum on the recruiting trail in Jimmy's comfort zone of Maryland even though Jimmy has the national championship he constantly touts. Please don't claim a weaker conference - the same conference whose 2 teams have owned Siena at least the the last 5 years.

Odoms success is all the more remarkable in light of UMBC's academic standards. An equivalent in the SUNY system would be the level of Geneseo or New Paliz which are considered highly competitive and to some, "sub elite."

If you call 48-76, with a 15-3 conference record this year making progress. JP should have a longer leash.
