I believe you stated on the other board that although he had conversations and addressed concerns with you about posts on this board, it wasn’t the single factor for his decision. UA recruited him hard & UA put in a lot time. In addition, you indicated his mom attended UA as well. I also read where he stated that he was extremely happy with UAs system, how he fit into WBs plans and the effort they showed recruiting him. Are you also saying that he was concerned with JPs longevity and stability? That’s pretty obvious conclusion and valid concern given JPs performance over the last 5 years (.450). Don’t think you need to read message boards to come to that conclusion. JPs back is obviously up against the wall given his performance. Sounds like UA’s stability, effort, fit and family connection far outweighed the posts of a handful of people on a Siena board. Everything you said about UAlbany is true and what I said. Siena had two huge factors going in its direction. The TU Center and the crowds that they draw was number 1. Abe was number 2. He also grew up attending the Siena camp every summer, and there was a definite connection to the school. His parents were the main people that read the message board. There was definite concerns about the energy on the board, and whether not just Patsos' stability was in question, but whether the energy would create a negative atmosphere Fair & objective statement , thank you.

For those of you that watch college football or are Notre Dame fans, one thing I'd at least like to see Patsos do this off season is what Brian Kelly did. Ask players what the coaching staff could do better, maybe replace some assistants or change the strength and conditioning plan. Is there any word on drastic changes to how he's approaching next year other than recruiting? He's staying and we have to accept that and as much as some may not like him or believe in him, I still would love to see him and the team win 25 games and make the tournament but he has to do something different and any good coach should see that

I'm not sure if our incumbent basketball coach is a reader but he would profit from finding the article by Tom Crean in the Feb. 26 issue of Sports Illustrated entitled "School of Jock." As you probably know, Crean was recently hired as the new basketball coach at Georgia. After he was fired at Indiana last March, he embarked on a year long quest to answer some basic questions that he asked himself: "What was his role in what had become a toxic work environment in Bloomington? Did he delegate too much? Or had he micromanaged? What would he do differently next time?" As Crean stated in the preamble to the article, "I want to become a better leader, a better manager, a better coach, a better man - by watching the best." My point is, it takes more than a renewed interest in recruiting to make Patsos successful as Siena's basketball coach. I offer this article because Crean is described by Sports Illustrated as "an incurable extrovert, a collector of relationships inside and outside sports." Sound familiar? I wonder if Crean's job as an analyst at ESPN is still open. I have a recommendation...

Do we really think about of paiionate fans posting on a non descriptive board has an effect on a recruits decision. They may use it as an excuse but not relevant. If anything the fandom would enhance the recruits wanting to attend a school who has a fan base as passionate and large as Siena. No knock on UA, what do they have 6 posters on their board, and compare the student population at both schools. At the very least a recruit, well his parents handlers would see the again passion and knowledge and that would be considered a plus. Face it posts here never normally knock the kids just the management and this management is certainly not long term. School again cutting off its nose to spite its face. At the time they make the decision this is the biggest decision that these players have made in their lives. To think that they don't use every thing at their disposal to make that decision is naive. I am not saying it is the only factor, but it is a factor. I have had other players involved with other schools where it is a factor as well, either positively or negatively you get paid near half a mil and appaerntly that is guaranteed for a number of years. The average joe gets up and goes to work and when they decide they arent doing their job very well or at all... they are out on their ass and quite often with no parachute. This guy is making just about 9 times the average salary in NY State. Its apparently guaranteed for a rolling 4 years. So in 4 years hes getting what it takes the average joe 36 years to earn. Even if you simply use a six figure salary that would have him guaranteed in 4 years what someone making a 100k gets in near 20 years. Simple reality is ... he isnt really all that good at his job. He is fantastic at snow jobs however. Probably one of my biggest issues with the society structure is that there really isnt a whole lot of accountability at the top. Between guarantees and severance etc these people make their cash no matter what happens to the business. Why more people dont take issue with it is beyond me. You make your own bed.... man the *&^% up and own it.

Patsos is being paid fairly for a coach at his level. It’s not his fault that D’argenio extended his contract. He’s not performing and now he will lose his job, if not this year, most definitely next.

Just wondering how the resurrection is going? He must have signed some blue chip recruits? Maybe start a strenuous off season workout plan for returning players? Other than talk just what is being done? Jimmy has been quiet, is he on vacation again?

Sit Grasshopper and consider...
each time the word "resurrection" is used in conjunction with Siena Men's Basketball, I have to laugh - the Program is, as someone earlier posted, truly dead...the "resurrection" we think of at this time of year was noted as the sun rose and I can't get the lyric "The sun will come out Tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar..." each time I read the word resurrection...Our Tomorrow is not on the horizon...we need a Big Daddy Warbucks Group to step up and, give up their bottom dollar...
as to the "blue chips" - So-so is more likely into blue corn tortilla chips...
"strenuous" might be too big a jump - let's just hope for an off-season (and boy we just ended an "off-season") MANDATORY workout plan program (personally hate the word "plan" in any conversation about So-so)...
your last question should have, IMO, been worded as "...is he on vacation again still?"...
re So-so's being "quiet" - be careful of what you wish for - we will, no doubt, soon once again hear him as he spins up why several of his players are leaving the Program (question - does our once proud Program deserve to be capitalized today?)...get ready for "wants to declare for the NBA" - "wants to be closer to mommy" - "wants to major in micro-biology" - "wants to start again, like he did in high school" - "PPC told him he was a point guard"...We will soon be in the spin cycle and then, rinse - repeat...sadly, the DRAIN cycle is currently inoperative...

This board is like an episode of the golden girls! Endless BS! Endless drama! 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 I liked the golden girls myself. They were spunky old broads with a lot of energy, very similar to the Siena fan base. Every show had a nice ending and made you feel good. What a great show.

You know th24, your "Golden Girls" popular culture reference smacks of ageism. Last time I checked Coach K, Boeheim and Roy Williams had a few gray hairs themselves. One thing age does provide is perspective, a lens on the present. We know what a good program, not just a team, looks like and it doesn't look like Siena under the present leadership. Every morning I read in the Transactions section of my local paper of another D I coach fired, but it's never Patsos. What I am watching at the end of every NCAA tournament game are players embracing their coach. Painful reminder of "The Way We Were." (filmed at Union College, in case you forgot or didn't know...)

Other than talk just what is being done? Jimmy has been quiet, is he on vacation again? The targets haven't decided yet and there's still 18 days until signing day. I hope we can wait at least until dreams are fully shattered before people unleash the full fury of a 100 posters in full force. Tariq Johnson committed to Wyoming but we clearly backed off him for whatever reason. Who goes to Wyoming voluntarily? Darius Brown...we never even offered. Malik Zachery was clearly not first choice. So far Jimmy is 1 for 1 in the spring in signing his top targets. Yeah, it's quiet now, but maybe there's some good news down the road. Once we see the full result of his efforts then we can unleash the madness.
