On paper(we know it's much lower in reality) at about 6000 per game this yr, we are about 1800 fans down per game from Fran's best year of 7800 per game. This was in his last year (meaning it took 5 full years of growing that fan base back to trusting you even with much success out on the court the previous 3 yrs). If your talking about 17 games a year and an avg spend between the ticket/ concession stands/parking/bars/restaurant of $50 p/person p/game, the economical cost to Siena now vs. Siena then is about $1.5 million a year hit to the Siena brand, let alone student applications, school spirit, regional spirit, downtown Albany spirit, and lost opportunity of actually growing your business beyond the best of the Fran years to becoming a regional brand much like being a mini mid major to what Syracuse is in their very similar economic market but on a much larger scale. this is a RED FLAG.......we are now averaging less per game than the Mitch era......that alone should be grounds for dismissal.............

Looks like a great year end project for a bright Siena Economics major to do this analysis and present it to College and Athletic dept. leadership. Put that in your Data Analytics pipe and smoke it JP!

Yeah....about that pipe...I don't think there is much data analysis going on....just MHO. Over JP's 5 years here, I've come to believe that this is the case. He coaches toughness, hustle, and emotion. If he understood the analytical side better and took it more seriously, his comments and strategies would reflect that. I don't think he pays much attention to the numbers of either Siena or its opponents. I'm not sure he looks at it from that perspective much. The book on him has always been that he focuses less on the 'scout' than on perfecting his own system...which has long been 'attack the paint, draw fouls, and crash for offensive boards'...though on defense...it gets a lot more grey with him. Maybe that's why his defenses have usually lagged behind his offenses. Jimmy's average Kenpoms (14 years): Offense = 175th2pt FG% Offense = 217th 3pt FG% Offense = 174th 3pt Attempt % = 245th Offensive Rebounding % = 67th Offensive FT rate = 110th Offensive Assist % = 192 Offensive TO% = 217 Offensively, you like how he gets to the rim but, based on the numbers, the offense hasn't created a lot of high% looks because the 2pt FG% sucks and the assist rate isn't that great. We see this all the time. And because the offense isn't creating good looks it leads to a lot of turnovers. The #'s over the 14 years reflect all this. The numbers for his career show what we see in exaggerated fashion in this year's games. He's a whole lot of average. Perhaps I'll do PPS next and verify the numbers better. Defense = 215thDefensive Rebounding % = 240th Defensive TO% = 198th Fouling = 282nd 2pt D = 135th 3pt D = 139th Opponent Assist % = 93 On defense, his teams generally suck on the defensive boards as they're often scattered in man D. They do ok defending FG% wise but at the PPS level they blow overall because they're always fouling a TON and that's how you maximize PPS. As a result, they negate most of the rest of their positive efforts. Also, he's way overrated in his ability to force turnovers. Between his poor offensive TO% and his poor defensive TO%...he's been losing the turnover margin battle for years. He may make up for some of the possession battle when his rebounding is elite but it's not enough to separate him much from the mean. A whole lot of blah on D. While there are some things you could like about Jimmy, his other deficiencies and lack of attention to detail negate a lot of the good things that he does do.
