Who are you calling son? Don’t put me in the same team tank bullshit category you are... Stop with the sanctimonious bullshit. Mts is a real fan, he’s frustrated like a lot of true fans are.

No doubt. I love the Siena basketball program. I just want the best for the program's long-term health. What we saw tonight was a joke. That's not Siena basketball. The talent and coaching is just way way down. I support the players but major changes have to come starting in March. If that means certain things have to go down a certain way then that's the way it has to be. I would hope the decision makers see the big picture and not a few vanity wins.

In this and the Expectations thread it seems everyone is of the mindset that changing both Darg and SoSo this year is out of the question. Well consider this: a young very promising AD at a big school is looking to take the next step so he can be the man at another school. Siena hires him and he brings with him a young hungry assistant coach who wants the chance to prove himself and he knows that in a couple years Siena could double his $250-300 salary.
Possibilities....

Have heard there’s no truth to the rumors of his retirement as he wants to see through on the compleation of the renovations of the facilities on campus and he heads the MAAC committee that will be the main contact for the Men’s and Women’s basketball tourney. Unless the board of trustee makes him resign as AD and stay on as a VP, he’s not going anywhere for 3 to 5 years.

That's too bad if true- I have zero confidence in Darg involvement in any coaching hire. He is basically clueless when it comes to hiring a head coach and doling out contracts. I would have been ok if for financial reasons Siena had to keep So-so another year if they hired a new AD. Looks to me like next year Siena will try to sell the same inept team Darg /So-so and on woman side Ajax - of course that's Siena right to do that- good luck to program ..

There’s always the option of Him being hired by the MAAC to do those roles, but I just don’t see him leaving anytime soon from what I have heard.

Only way he retires early is if BOT forces the issue. Change is needed, let’s face it the management of the school'is stale. Perhaps they will go halfway and remove title of AD.

Removing the AD title would be a win/win, however I don’t think they will want to pay him and a new AD. Only time will tell to see how serious they are about men’s program.

So would Siena benefit from an AD from a smaller college or one with a more polished or established resume?!

I would look at a high-major school that doesn't have major football. We want someone from a school where basketball is king (i.e. Villanova, Marquette, Butler, Xavier etc). Also needs to be a person (man or woman if she knows the game) who has a background in basketball specifically. And someone who is ready to hold people and the head coach fully accountable.

While I would love to see a female AD, I don't think it will happen at Siena. I would love to see what Matt Bassett could do with this athletic department.
