It looks like we're going after some really talented recruits. I havent been in the board long enough to know what talk was like here this time last season. Was it similar? Are we actually in a possible position to sign them?

Are we actually in a possible position to sign them? @ heftylefty 1. all the transfers down to lower programs were stellar recruits in high school as described by both the staff and some on the board 2. by this time last season, more of those that follow recruiting (I don't) had developed a more critical analysis - result...less recruits were stellar..... 3. the general consensus is that if we are in competition with any program that is currently demonstrating a winning system within their league or if the kid has other D-1 offers or ability to go higher than the MAAC we do NOT have a chance of signing them.

Nobody any good is going to sign to play for a lame duck (at best).

Nobody any good is going to sign to play for a lame duck (at best). None would be signing until late April. If the thought is that he's getting fired this year, they can decommit and have plenty of time to find a new home. If not, they have a chance for immediate PT and if they have to, they can transfer after 1 year if a new coach comes in and having had good numbers/consistent minutes. Not the hardest sell in the world.

Honestly, much of the kids Siena is recruiting now have ties to the current club and/or Albany. For them, committing to Siena knowing there very well could be a new hot shot coach in town in a year...might not dissuade them all that much if they're committed to the area and want PT.

Unfortunately I think it’s just the opposite nobody wants to deal with that mess and nobody is going to walk into that situation knowing the chances are extremely high that Patsos has a year left at best. Besides the best predictor of the future is found in the past. You really think this guy is suddenly going to turn his recruiting woes around? Not a chance.

Exactly- it’s like groundhog day with this coach, we go thru same crap every year, JP looks at some decent kids in season, if there is any competition with other D1 programs JP won’t get kid unless JP has connection to kids high school coach or AAU coach. Once season ends JP is pretty much done recruiting. When we have inevitable JP transfers over summer, JP will panic and give scholarship to some kid with no other D1 offers, so he can say to Darg recruiting done, if you need me I’ll be in ( Paris, triple crown races Saratoga, Cape Cod) depending on time of summer. Biggest mistake JP made was not knowing himself, instead of hiring drinking buddies ( Manning Watson) JP needed to hire asst coaches that were recruiting demons- a man has to know his limitations. Darg is just as culpable, hiring JP and letting him get away with spending off season on vacation resulting in shoddy recruiting

Likely he is as good as but not better than what Iowa has on its roster and Iowa needs better talent not more of the same. That is not necessarily a bad thing. The Iowa squad would be on top of the MAAC. correct..............and not sure he is better than our SG from CA............... Next year the leading scorer in Iowa high school basketball history will be a freshman for the Hawkeyes. Outstanding shooter/scorer.
