I wish it would be a good crowd, but it would surprise me if it were, given the weather. I will be there with my family, though.

Can’t help but laugh at the article about threes and lineups. ‘We’re not like the Warriors” says Jimmy. ‘We kind of are’ says Horn. ‘Ok maybe a little, but still go inside’ says Jimmy

I doubt JP ever gets to practice early - too bad as Jordan is usually the first to arrive and start working on his game....he just might be the hardest working player on the team, just sayin'....

It's a load of bull. If rebounding is sooooo important why does Richard play so much?
Horn is averaging 4.3 rebounds per 30...Richard...2.7..Clareth 4.1
The only difference is the offense is playing smaller so he's getting his feet under him and making his shots.
The rebounding line is likely some internal BS line meant to arbitrarily justify his small amount of mins and to motivate him to improve while he's sitting on the pine waiting his turn.
Horn has a positive assist ratio and actually has 2 blocked shots already. Shivers and Richard can't make such a claim.
If Horn's shots are going in, he'll miraculously start finding his mins rise no matter what he does on the boards.

I don't know if anyone saw the Michael Kelly tweets yesterday. Couple of takeaways.
1.) He rewatched the Memphis game and said "Siena's best moments were with its 4-guard lineups." So, another person now gets it.
2.) He said the gold team yesterday was 'Penn, Horn, Clareth, Fisher, Friday.' Horn must really be rebounding well lol...but Jimmy is still not one of the ones who gets the 4-guard lineup thing.
Hopefully, Horn can really rebound the lights out some more.

So, now, if Horn plays with a foolish 'big lineup' with Clareth...will he now get blamed if it fails or he doesn't score because Nico takes the shots and get thrown back into pine prison?
Thus continuing the lineup roulette, which continues to make the same mistakes over and over.

Has Horn shown improvement? Has Penn established himself. Has the team been prepared to play a variety of different lineups to allow for different game plans? Has Nico played in control? Well, three out of four...

As of now, here’s what I’d like to see our starting lineup be: Penn Horn Nico Shivers Fisher
Richard and Oduro (once he gets healthy) bring scoring punch off the bench, when we play 2 bigs (10 mins a night) Fisher switches to the 4. That said, I wouldn’t complain about Bentley or Smithen starting for Nico if Patsos wants to continue to bring Nico off the bench. Shivers will be fine long-term, he’s got a leg contusion which isn’t stopping him from playing but is enough to take away a bit of his explosiveness going up, which he doesn’t have much to give away lol. KK is right, this team has a bunch of guys who can shoot the 3. We saw what the floor spacing did for Nico early in the Memphis game, he had a couple excellent drives where he got into the lane and finished 1-on-1. His driving lanes haven’t been that big since freshman year. Him and shivers, along with Bentley and Smithen when they are out there, need to continue to attack those spaces and not be afraid to kick it out for an open 3 if they stuck amongst the trees.

I agree that's a fine lineup with Oduro out. And depending on gameflow subbing Smithen for Shivers could make it even better as he'd protect the ball. In theory, a lineup of Penn, Horn, Clareth, Smithen, Fisher would hardly ever turn it over. As much as Fisher draws mine and others ire...he's got a positive assist ratio. He's basically a slightly better rebounding Josh Duell right now. He keeps the ball moving and he can drop a jumper on a pick and pop. There should be no shortage of driving lanes with him as a lone big 5 man. There should be open shots galore no matter what D teams are playing. They should be scoring like 7 or 8 more pts a night and only turning it over like 12 times. When Oduro is back and healthy...he would have SOO much more room to work with 4 guards around him and he'd be SOOOO much more effective. Look at Iona...Glover, Laury, Washington, Edogi...stars are born every year in that system. A stoned midget can score on a 1 on 1 in the low post with so much space.

Well, three out of four... Sent from my SM-G935P using proboards Penn was a given, Horn was magnanimously given the opportunity, Oduro's injury has "helped" with the lineup variety (lineup variety has never been a "thang" that JP worried about - they just randomly happen as he glares down the bench), and Nico, well 'nuff said on Nico - control is the "thang" that JP struggles with as in; self-, waistband location (recall JP's favorite "It's on me quote" - true about everything but his MT suit), and players to name but a few....

Just saying there are signs of a team with a coach who is actually coaching. I hope that translates to success in the MAAC.
