Hope the next coach understands there is more to Siena basketball than 3 days in March.

Not trying to take away anything regarding "historical teaching moments," as highlighted in today's TU article, when the kids visit other cities/areas, but if JP invested some of his valuable time scouting our opponents as thoroughly as he scouts the city/area being visited we just might have a better game plan/execution/outcome....mic drop.....go ahead hankla, pick it up and let me have it....

No,it should always be entirely about basketball for example take UCLA in China There you go with extremes again - who said anything about "entirely"? I think you meant to reference the UCLA "take" in China.....three of those kids will possibly get to learn about a "great wall" from inside a Chinese prison.....all on their own without any help from the coaching staff that was likely focusing on their upcoming game while the kids went "shopping".....

Just looked on ESPN and the line for tonight's game is no longer CofC -14.5. It is CofC -18 which seems too big even for as young as the team is

Since we are playing so many freshmen it’s hard to tell. I’ll be interested to see if our freshmen guards can defend mid major D1 guards. To see how much Evan Fisher has improved although I realize he’s been hurt. Also see how CoC defends Nico, Hope to see Richard tonight and how Shivers looks. Saints can’t get into early foul trouble, if they do it will be long night in Charlestown

Seems like a bad line. I'll be taking the 18.

Seems like a bad line. I'll be taking the 18. Totally agree with you Papi. I get we are young but the only way the line should be 18 is if we are playing a school like Duke or UNC. CofC is very good but they are no Duke or UNC. Very interested to see how tonight winds up going especially with our bigs since rebounding seems to be the weakest part of this year's team

Random but worth pointing out before actual results start affecting the data:
In Kenpom, four Siena non-conference opponents are all ranked sequentially, all in top 80, starting off with tonight's opponent:
74. College of Charleston 75. Bucknell 76. Vermont 77. St. Bonaventure
(FWIW, Ohio State and Georgetown come in at 78 & 79)
EDIT: I see this was brought up in a separate thread. Didn't scour the whole board before posting.

Seems like a bad line. I'll be taking the 18. Yeah, said it on the other board. For a team that plays as slow as Charleston does, that seems like a lot....even if we DO suck.

More I think of it I agree the line is "too much". This is 1st Siena team that is all Jimmy’s recruits. We could get a good look at what we have in store this year. Many on this board have advocated freshmen guards are good, some have even argued that perimeter players are strength of this team. We should get a good look at that tonight, after all we aren’t playing Duke, this is another mid major team

And I think Siena has a lot of useful guard depth with Richard/Smithen etc.

If they are #2 mid major they could end up in top 25. Having said that this is exactly the type of game Siena should be scheduling every year to build the brand. Of course you have to win some of them too it’s not just about scheduling them like jimmy likes to say.
