Where have all the negative posts gone ... it’s been years since I’ve seen such positive vibes on this site ... let the games begin
Note: only argument here is how many minutes each player is going to get ... some have reached 10 deep on the roster ... hungry players with talent ... not a bad place to be

Anyone got any information regarding who did what in the scrimmage other than "Horn was the best player on the floor"?

The optimism is based on the fact that we have a potentially very talented Freshman class and what could be a very deep team. The difficulty in predicting minutes played confirms that, IMO. I've been to both Friday scrimmages and have been quite impressed with both our new players and the returning ones. Have to temper the optimism somewhat given that they are playing against themselves, i.e., they are by this time known quantities. Haven't seen this year's Fisher or Huerter yet due to injuries. Horn is the real deal - IMO, best player on the floor during both scrimmages. Friday also impressed me - he, in no way, reflected the "Friday" that had been discussed on this board previously.
As to "what are others doing" question - our HC was officiating and NOT actively coaching. The intersquad teams were coached by Greg and Jordan. Each team had only one sub - both teams were rearranged after 20 minutes. The teams played fast paced up and down games, didn't have to look over their shoulder on miscues, played extended minutes with the same group, AND, didn't experience the 'Jimmy In Your Face Tirades' during the few stoppages of play. Those of us in the cheap seats didn't have to struggle with seemingly mindless substitutions or watch the offense wilt as the shot clock ran down, instead we were treated to competitive games played by talented kids leaving nothing on the floor. I realize the pluses can't or likely won't extend too deeply into the season but I truly hope we see it through many of our OOC games, after all, that's what you play them for at our level.
Rules dictate you start 5 players - I'm less concerned with who starts at this point (or at the point for that matter) - I'm more interested to see who's on the floor at the end of close games. Horn is talented at both ends of the floor and, IMO, very, very heady, focused and in control of himself. He may start the year as first off the bench but I'm predicting that before long he'll be in the starting group against our "up" OOC and early MAAC games - games we can't let get out of hand early.

This coach is what he is. He recruits what he recruits. When you lower your expectations to "mid pack at best". As tony said... you wait until the results come. If they prove capable it could be an enjoyable seasons. If they dont, you will indeed... and rightfully so... see the calls for a coaching change. Until then... i certainly will attempt to refrain from beating the dead horse.

Ditto SaintsFan. It is a wait and see thing now. This is 100% fully JPs team. It still won't be as simple as it sounds though. I'm guessing there will be a lot of splitting hairs at the end as to what is deemed acceptable. Still, let's hope for a fun season.

I've seen some positive things let's see what happens when the games begin. I'm fully expecting them to take some lumps against a really good OOC schedule. But how do we get there? Does Jimmy just let the frosh play and coach up Nico to be a more efficient player? Plenty of reasons to be cautiously optimistic but also skeptical.
