Last few years Saints have had guys that shot a very high pct- in JO, Lavon and Brett. Siena is going to need several players step up shooting pct. Nico has to have better shot selection , he can't be a 37% shooter, SHivers 46% and Richard 48% were pretty good, but both were an afterthought to opposing defenses last season, Shivers especially will see increased defensive pressure- how Nico and Shivers react to being the "hunted" will go a long way toward determining what type of year team has.
Also agree Saints have to take care of the ball- if they are turning ball over 18 times a game, it's going to be a long year

Nico is a big risk on the PPS for sure. Career PPS of just 1.13.
But, at the same time, he had a 46% FG% as a frosh.
If he either took less threes or made a lot more of them he could certainly jump. But, #1, he HAS to draw and make a lot more FTs if he's going to be the go to scorer.
If not, I say get the ball to Horn. Seriously. 1.406 PPS in Canada. Maybe he could be Tyler Nelson-esque down the road (1.37 last year).
Oduro was just 1.07 in Canada by the way. That's horrendous for a big man.
MW - 1.19 JO - 1.45 BB - 1.31 LL - 1.46
That's who we need to replace...

Ooh my oooh my how time passes bye.The turnovers will go down guys getting to know each other and where they like the ball that will happen with more organized practices.Short shot clock more turnovers rebounding 50% we'll win or lose.Nico is the wildcard if he decides he wants to be best overall player in the maac not most points no most threes, but just everything defense play making we'll be good. The freshman will be ready come maac play if not sooner, this team is picked where they should but in the end they'll be top 5.If not drinks on me and dinner.

Beers oh no i just bought 5 24pack of soda for $5 each remember i went to ECPI i didn't say i finished😱.But i do have confidence in this team and coaches.Remember fan is short for fanatic.Don't look at recruiting rankings or what offers they had and didn't have.Let's all be fans of this team and not think about what differences you have in the coach or staff and enjoy this year it'll make it better.Giving up season tickets because you disagree with the coach isn't being a fanatic that's being a fan.If there bad then things will work it's self out but if there top 5 then stay away fans and let us fanatics root and cheer.Go Go Go Saints. And I'm going to stay a fanatic for the team and school.

I agree that Siena can't turn it over and expect to contend. But I was encouraged what I saw in Montreal especially considering there was no Nico or Shivers. Defense will be a key - need to improve there big time. I'll wait until we get closer to the season to make my official projections but I'm cautiously optimistic for the season.

I liked individual performances but I don't like how it fits together.
I like Penn and Horn. Oduro was better on D than expected. Heurter played well and Fisher was encouraging.
But, at the end of the day, if you're not more efficient than the other team...you're gonna lose.
And Siena could have some efficiency problems.
Siena is going to have to find ways to utilize its speed and ballhandling...ideally to win the turnover margin battle and defend the perimeter. They'll have an uphill battle if they don't.

Agree with the efficiency if Shivers has improved like they said that takes pressure off of Nico and from what we saw from the freshman in Canada. They improved in every game and the other returning players performed well. The non conference schedule being tough helps out. These kids are confident in themselves they come from winning programs.

It is way too early to say for sure who will get the majority of the minutes come November. The injury to Shivers is a complicating factor that may result in him starting the season as the 6th man.
Personally, I was encouraged by the guard play in Canada. The two freshman guards got the majority of the minutes and did so without the two main returning players either not playing or playing minimal minutes. While the team started slow, they competed and played well in stretches of all 3 games. While far from perfect, there was a lot to like from the teams performance in Canada.
As for the rotation, Penn, Horn, Nico, Shivers, Fisher and Prince are clearly in. Smithen, Richard, Huerter and Degnan are fighting for the the last two spots in the rotation. Camper, Bentley and Friday have much work to do to get back in the conversation.
And, I call everyone's attention back to Lanier's last year ... Jack McClinton was an afterthought as a recruit and didn't even score in the green and gold game. Turned out to be the best in that class by far. Some of the freshman will improve as the game slows down for them (others may go the other way).

Team will be very inexperienced, Nico is only player to have played major minutes at D1 level, he is also only player to avg more than 4ppg at D1 level. Young/inexperienced teams normally struggle on road – key to team’s season will be how they protect the home court. Win majority of home games and steal some road wins and team can have a decent year

I see a young hungry team that as individuals know they have a shot at playing time, if they step up. A lot of them might feel they were under-recruited and have something to prove. That they belong. The chemistry of the team certainly looks like it is going to be better this year. It's going to be exciting to watch this young team develop and grow together as a unit and as individuals. I would have never believed we even had a chance of winning two of those exhibition games in Canada without Nico and Ahsante. With all the positives that have happened recently in the development of this extremely young roster, it's hard not to be more optimistic than most previously were. We're going to take our lumps but I'm really excited to see these kids develop and grow. I don't want to give up the rest of the golf season but I can't wait to have the college basketball season begin!! Go Young Saints!!!

I hope that by the time MAAC play comes around they're only turning it over like 12 times a game while averaging like 7 steals or so. In theory the offense, would/should have gelled by then.
I think that's what it will take. I don't know that they can do that without playing 4 guards.
With Shivers and Clareth healthy plus Heurter and Camper...I'd have to think that going small becomes more common than it was in Canada.
Want to see Penn, Horn, Clareth, Shivers out there a lot together.
Use Smithen to fill in for them all as the glue guy...and have Oduro, Fisher, Heurter, Degnan, Friday and Camper fight over for the remaining 50-60 mins or so.
Something like this:
Penn-30, Smithen-10 Horn-30, Clareth-10 Clareth-20, Shivers-10, Smithen-10 Shivers-20, Heurter-10, Fisher-10 Oduro-25, Fisher-10, Friday/Degnan-5
