If there wasn't a kazoo playing basketball player in heaven before; there sure is one now.
I will miss you Bob, your stories and yes, your kazoo playing and bull horn on the bus trips.

Bob contacted me regularly for the past several years, and shared many stories as well as his struggles with cancer. He was concerned, but optimistic. I'm very sorry to hear that he has passed away. His grandchildren will miss having a very loving and unique grandfather caring for them, though I have no doubt that he will be keeping close watch over them as their new guardian angel.
Bob continued to play basketball long after anybody should be able to, but he loved the game so much. And he traveled near and far to watch his favorite teams play, and there were a bunch of them.
A sad day for anyone who knew the man.

In 1969, after graduating from Waterford-Halfmoon HS, I entered my freshman year at Siena College. As a member of the freshman basketball team, I was able to see up close and personal just how great a player Bob Hermann was. We would occasionally scrimmage the varsity and he was always the best player in the gym. At 6'7" he could not only rebound and score inside, but he was an excellent mid-range jump shooter. Even though he was that much better than any of us, you would never know it by his demeanor. He was always positive and encouraging, and that meant a lot to all of us. He was a great player and a great supporter of our program. I wish I had the opportunity to play on the same team with him.

Bob's insightful calls to the post-game show will also be missed.
