Interesting transition from Times Union Sports Editor to Assistant AD at SUNY for Pete. Best of luck.

I still remember Pete's first year covering Siena and meeting him in VT for the VT game. Seems like yesterday. He was a very good sports cover guy who worked his way up to chief sports/editor guy.
I wish him all the best and will miss him as Siena's sports guy.

He did cover Siena at one point. I remember talking to him at the Liacuras Center before we played Temple.

I did a little research. Pete covered Siena from 2005 to 2012.

I am certain S22's comment is major "tongue in cheek" set up by the absence of a Siena reference in the blurb on Pete's bona fides 😂 Pete was a regular at practices and often engaged in sideline conversations with a bunch of us, S22 almost always in that mix!!!

Surprised saints22 would ever use the TU for facts. Pretty sure he knows better.

Thanks, MP. It was definitely tongue in cheek. Certainly wish Pete well, but hard to see him crossing over to the dark side.

I really liked Pete's coverage of Siena; he was Waaayyy better than Wilkin. Pete had a way of bringing out more than sports too. I thought he was one of the best TU writer's Siena ever had. When writing about the opposing teams' players he always did his homework and provided more coverage in the article on game day.

Pete's farewell/goodbye article: www.timesunion.com/tuplus-sports/article/Iorizzo-A-fun-run-in-sports-writing-comes-to-an-11307832.phpOddly, I remember this game/trip to PA to play Penn at the Palestra ( Saints22 speaks of the fire drill as there was at least one full bus trip of fans attending;) but I don't remember speaking with Pete during that trip. Although Dave Driggs or Mr Siena may have. I still remember talking with him in VT when we got lost and were simply turning around in the parking lot of Pete's hotel when we spotted him and spent 10-15 mins talking with him. I guess I'm going to miss him a second time: first when he stopped being Siena's beat writer (to get the Sport's Editor position) & now that he's leaving the TU. Goodbye Pete and wishing you nothing but the best.
