SU fans disappointed me in 2003. Many of them did not show up until after halftime of the Oklahoma-Butler game. That always drives me nuts when the fans have these tickets that most people would die for and then don't even show up to the other game until the second half.

I'm sure the local restaurants and bars were happy for their pre-game business, but I get your point.

Which brings up the whole idea that maybe the arenas could make their beer prices a little more competitive to drive that business into the arena. $7 for a 24 ounce Miller is a bit of a ripoff, the $9 they are charging is highway robbery.

The NCAA has a long-running policy barring alcohol sales to the general public during its postseason events, including the Big Dance.
The sole exceptions typically are luxury suites.

Oh wow, I thought that was only if it was on campus. Then they deserve the empty seats, stupid policy. I remember when NCAAs were in Syracuse having to get a smoking pass at halftime to run down to the bars on Marshall Street and throw back some shots to try and get back to the arena on time for the second half. Somehow that seems way less responsible drinking than having a couple beers at the Dome.

The EXACT reason those seats were empty before their game. The SU fans were injecting thousand$ and thousand$ of busine$$ into the local restaurants/bars. Ps-our suite pre-ordered 10 cases of beer that weekend. I could have sold them for $20 a can by Sunday.
