Good News. Never thought Nico would leave. Staying at Siena is in his best interest and that of the team's too. If he stays healthy and works hard in the off season.... look out... next year could prove to be better than most on here are expecting. I too never thought he was leaving. If a player even contemplated leaving they never would have (1) wanted to come back and play the last few games of the season after being suspended and (2) wouldn't have necessarily cared to play well and just go through the motions. Besides transferring to another program, having to sit out a year and no gaurantee you'd get more PT (at a higher leve) all lead me to believe he was never leaving this year.

Sorry folks--I enjoy Nico and will always support Siena basketball ( although some years are harder than others). I just can't get excited about this, or looking at another rebuilding year after we made it all the way to .500. Maybe by November I'll be psyched up again for a new season--just not now.

Whoever it was that was asking when we are going to see it, Nico is our #2,Hasbrouck style type player.
Have a feeling that Roman Penn will be our next 4 yr. starting point?
Richard will score 10 pts a game or more off the bench next year.
Shivers will be our 3rd guard.
WB, Degman, and Friday and one of the Freshmen bigs will compete to be the remaining two starters.
In a year where most of the top teams from the this year graduated a bunch of main players, after Iona, the league will be wide open and once Sienna gets its feet wet in November and December, with a player like Nico leading the way, this team will compete for the Top 2 or 3 spots in the league next year.

Wow.... You realize you are naming players that may not be here in May, right? Nico is so far from Hasbrouck it isn't even humorous. Did you know Hasbrouck??? You are probably right on Richard if he can get the ball back from Nico and shoot in the 60% range. The next line is where you fall off a bit...... Iona will reload; QU will bring in a coach a big $$ with pressure to perform. They have two young players that if they stay are a good foundation to start with for anyone with half a brain. Nico leading the way next year......If that comes with a perpetual green light, we are in trouble. Finally, it's SIENA College not SIENNA the mini-van.

I took like 45 mins and updated the rosters of all the MAAC last night for myself.
It looks wide open. So much change and uncertainty across the board. There's a lot of returnees but many of those returnees are unproven. And a lot of the teams with the most returnees finished in the bottom 4 or 5.
Rice may go to Duquesne. Even Grasso may go to Quinny which could really gum up the Iona reload machine.
It's very tough to gauge how teams will perform with so many questions. Marist still looks like a last place team esp. with Hart gone. That might be one of most certain things.

I do not agree with nor understand all the pessimism on this board regarding next years Saints. If Nico is healthy and behaves, he will be one of the top 5 players in the MAAC without question. If you looks at this years seniors they all to a man improved significantly since their freshman year under JP and his staff in my opinion. Why not believe the remaining players will also improve significantly? And lastly I do not see any MAAC teams significantly above the rest of the teams for next season. Health, hard work in the off season and a group playing together in their individual roles and I can see the Saints having better than expected season. Maybe a little positive karma from the fan base will help too.

Jermaine Crumpton? Mikey Dixon? EJ Crawford? Deyshonee Much? Schadrac Casimir? etc, etc. Nico Clareth has perhaps the highest upside of anyone in the league, for sure. However, potential is only good if realized.

Upside, sure but he needs some consistency. With Wright gone and Clareth having been handed the keys to the castle maybe we'll see that.

Sometimes you have to throw out a race or two due to certain circumstances. I would use Siena in my exacta and triple boxes if it was a horse based on past performance. It's not a nag like you think.

I can't see how anyone can argue with that. We should have 5 junior studs filling the senior class roster next year. We have none. What's the excuse? You folks can be positive that's fine. But saying this team will finish in the top three is delusional. It's based on absolutely nothing.
