The top one (upset) being 10th seed Fairfield defeating #1 Iona twenty years ago and going on to win the tournament. Fairfield gave NC( Vince Carter & Rasheed Wallace) a scare in the first round.

It may be rated as the top upset. But if my memory serves me correctly it really wasn't much of a surprise because FF was the preseason favorite to win the league. They had a horrible season due to lots of injuries. Everyone was back and healthy by the time the MAAC trny rolled around.

There have been several 4 versus 1 upsets in the semis over the past five years, but they both featured weak number 1 seeds. Iona beat Niagara in 2013 and Fairfield beat Iona in 2012.
The one X factor besides the injury situation with seaborn and clareth is the fact that Monmouth has never played Siena in the Maac tourney. Although it's hard to imagine they are shaking considering the 20 point blowout last time they were here.

I believe the kid's name on Fairfield was Shaun Bowman who finally got healthy and was a one man "wrecking ball". Fairfield also has had a kid named Jerry Tice, great shooter who later transferred (to Central CT. ?).

Shaun Bowman was the MAAC's answer to Charles Barkley if I recall.

I like Siena having a fully rested /healthy Clareth for this game. He might be the X factor when it's all said and done!

The other star if that team was a guard named Francis...think it was Greg Francis. They were actually the 8th seed, only 8 teams in the MAAC back then.

Where have you been, My understanding is that it is a bad sprain and if he plays on it he will get worse. So chances are he plays no where near 100% and if Siena does win he doesn't play Monday.
