A tu Plus story Google "Siena basketball sets sights on Quinnipiac" normal Patsos excuses, teams lacked emotion blah, blah blah.Team has to get ball inside more blah blah blah. There is a reason why Brett and JO's numbers are down considerably from last year. With no outside shooting teams are "packing" it in vs the Saints. No room to operate no matter how badly Jimmy wants the ball inside. Other thing hurting us is no bench, there is a noticeable drop off in performance when coach goes to bench. The Saints were outscored 27-10 in bench points against Iona. In the past three games, Siena's reserves have been outscored 96-25 by their counterparts. Quinny is 8-13, 5-6 in MAAC - similar record as Siena- once again, if Siena hits shots they should win, if they shoot 3-19 again from 3 they will probably lose

Some interesting and possibly key points from the TU article Tony referenced above: - Team was rewarded with a three hour film watching session on Saturday as reward for their uninspired performance Friday night - likely more film than JP has watched in total over the season to date! - "Maybe I (JP) should have gone to the hospital instead of coached." - I agree - maybe, just maybe one of the assistants might have thought "Maybe we should go zone?" - this morning they will have a shootaround at Yale because he wants them to see the historic building - why not schedule a game there instead, it might make more of an impression having actually played there rather than filling them with "awe" just before a big game being played elsewhere! (Sorry hankla but I see zero, yes zero educational benefit from this stunt!) - "I (JP) just want energy off the bench. You come off the bench, play defense, set screens and rebound." - now we know a little of the mindset that the bench players carry onto the floor - where's the "If you get an open look, take the shot" inspiration? - makes the 96-25 gap bench scoring over the last three games a little more understandable - nice confidence boost and great preparation - do they even run a play for them or do we just concede 20% of our offensive potential with each big 4 substitution? - JO's comment on tonight's game - "I know we're tied with Canisius, and anytime you can sweep an opponent it looks good for your record." - not sure who would be evaluating our record for anything - not picking on JO but the team's focus should ONLY be on the next game and not our record - your record improves on its own with each W - is this focus part of JP's pre-game prep speeches....SMH

You hit the nail on the head with the 80% offense. At times it looked like it was 4 on 5 Friday. Still I'm thinking tonight will be a win.

I thought 'Quis had some good insight in his comment about they could use more passion, but it wasn't intentional. Here's the thing - Brett, Quis, JO, and Lavon - all solid, good players and all four are great people - they will all do well in life. However, none of the four are full of fire, they are all laid back, nice guys. They are all competitors, they are all talented, but that is not their nature to have fire on the court. I think Nico brought the fire, but unfortunately, he also brought some other things as well.

If I recall correctly there was one point in the game where Pastos had three subs on the floor at the same time who everyone in the arena knew were not in there to shoot the ball. Jimmy has to take the fear out of the subs heads that if they shoot good shots and miss they're not going to get yanked out and benched.

Sometimes its tough to show passion when you know your coach has you going in the wrong direction, like trying to play man to man defense against a much more athletic team and getting beat on almost every play. After a while it gets old and tiresome.

No, the article was quite clear - watch, rewind, watch, rewind, ... sort of like our season has been - same old, same old, it's on me, same old, same old, it's on me, rinse, repeat,.... - I will say one thing about his constant "it's on me" mantra - I think he's convinced the kids that it's not about them but is about him and they are waiting on some epiphany and effective change....

A bit unfair to be acting like Siena only has 4 scoring options by citing the bench scoring while ignoring that Richard has started the past three games and is our second leading scorer over those three games. His 37 points are more than Long's 35, Wright's 34 (missed a game), and Ogunyemi's 31.

"I don't know what to do. That's what you have to deal with. We have four 1,000-point scorers (in the starting lineup), shouldn't they carry you? I just want energy off the bench. You come off the bench, play defense, set screens and rebound."

Just wanted to point out that if you counted the big 4 as the starters and Richard as a bench guy then the numbers would look a lot better.

Im absolutely sick and tired of hearing about 1000 point scorers. This goes right in the trash with claiming 20 win seasons are indicative of a great season. They play MORE games and these "1000 point scorers" were handed the keys from day one and the staff hasnt recruited anyone nearly as good since. So, if on a scale of 1 to 10, you recruit 4 sixes and let them start from day one and then DONT recruit anyone better... you get exactly that... a mediocre team with a number of "1000 point scorers" who are in actuality ... mediocre. So throw that 1000 point scorer s%^t in the garbage already.
